I have a 1969 Skylark with power drum brakes, the brakes will go all the way to the floor and car will stop. After pumping the brake they still will not get firm. I adjusted the shoes out until there is a slight drag and still the same. I have new lines, hoses, M/C & booster. Also when I hold the brakes and start the car the pedal doesn't move (vacuum engaging) I took the vacuum hose off the manifold and have vacuum. I bled the brakes with an air bleeder to get fluid in the lines then use the pump & open bleeder screws to finish off the job , pedal still goes to the floor.
Hey Jaye. You already have done what i was going to suggest by adjusting the shoes as they make a big difference in the feel of the brakes on drum equipped cars. There may very well a bubble or two in the master or the lines somewhere although I would think you would still be able to pump up the brakes if there was just a bubble. I'm sure others will chime in too. Keep after it though, I'm sure you'll get it sorted out. Robert
Both came from advance auto parts M/C was new booster reman, today I'm going to rebleed the M/C and then all lines to see what I have and go from there.
Went through all fittings and found one that wasn't tight also had fluid around it tightened bleed all brakes and everything seems OK.
