Nice 70-72 GS Hood Price: $1500 Payment: Money Order ONLY before shipment or delivery. Location: Northern California Photos: Contact for Photos Phone: 408-531-7541 Yes it is expensive. This hood is for someone that needs a real nice solid piece. It pays for itself because it is solid and you will need to do a lot less work. I checked it over well. Checked the underside and there is no rust through, no signs of dents, no signs of body filler coming through, the corners are not dented or bent, the front V is nice and I did a magnet check on the entire exterior and if there is any body filler it would be just a skim coat before a repaint but I don't think that this hood has ever been repainted. I bought it with a coat of primer on the exterior and I suspect that it had surface rust and was sanded and primed so it looked more presentable when I bought it. These were really tough to find at the time (probably tougher now) and I paid a ton for it at the time for a project. I have a restored 72 now. I could keep it for a spare or an upcoming project but I don't think that I will need another GS. If someone needs a real nice solid hood for an upper end GS restoration it will be well worth it. I ship engines all over the world and we always crate really well and I would do the same for you but this takes time and money so we need to charge for time and materials. As you know this hood is extremely heavy and requires a good crate. We can talk about crating if interested.
Does the hood have a spring, or at least a hole for a spring, beside the latch receiver area? '70 hood would have no spring, '71 & '72 had it.
Steve, The hood does have a hole for a spring so it will work for 1970-1972 but based on this info it is not correct for 1970 because of the hole. Thanks
