    Dave,
Thanks for the lead, and I hope you are well!
Although procuring another vehicle is not within financial, physical storage or even marriage survival possibilities, an un-touched 70 is one to follow.
I called the number; the owners brother thought they still had the car. The owner isn't available until Monday. I'll try to get the VIN.

A report will be forthcoming on my GP's engine. My mysterious "tick" was a cracked piston; a brand-new forged Keith Black piston.

According to the Real olds power forum it may have been sold.

I was aware of that, but that posting was from Janurary and I called last Thursday.
When these sort of cars come up, once must pursue (and keep pursuing) as much information as possible.
Even if it's sold, I'll take the VIN. There were 199 70' GPs with 455 and 4spd.
If you have the VIN, and the car is re-registered or re-titled, it is much easier to track down.

For my 1-of-94 69' GP, it took me 12 years to find one like it that I actually bought, but I found 2 others - but those were bought faster than I could move on them.

Dave - I just wanted to say thanks for the lead.
I had called and called and couldn't get the VIN - mainly because I was always talking to the owner's brother.
The car ran in Craigslist again recently; finally I obtained the VIN.
Car is $9K and in primer with some rust; originally Silver with a black vinyl top and black interior - unknown if it is leather.
Also has A/C and 8-track but crank windows. Again, thanks Dave!
