I think I've seen this car for sale for a long time now. It is posted on nearly every sale site. I have to wonder why it hasn't sold. Has anyone looked at it?
yes It is my old GSX Documented by Wayne Roberts as #96. Mark Reeves restored it for a fellow board member and it is ultra nice and has won a lot of awards including the GSCA Nationals Concorse Gold it is one of the very few that have a 4SPD W/air the car has not sold for one simple reason the car has the numbers matching but the code on the block is incorrect it is a SS code this is the code for a stage 1 and this car is a non stage car so it sould be a SR code the block does not look to be a repunch but this scares a lot of buyers off but I looked at the car after it was restored and have to say YOU WILL NOT FIND ONE BETTER !!!! the car is 100% brand new every little thing on it has been painted buffed or chromed and with this new lower prce it is a bargin (I think) if I had the money it would be back in my Garage. The owner has other things going on right now and needs to sell this car otherwize I am sure he would keep it and enjoy winning many more awards as I think Mark did one HECK of a nice job bringing this car back to all its glory.
Well, it sounds like a great car. Too bad about the mixup on the engine but if you want a really nice car that you can win shows with, who cares? If the guy that is selling is a friend you might suggest to him that he take some new pictures away from the yellow/blue curtains. I have been looking for a QQ car for a very long time and I keep running across this one. I don't even bother reading the ad anymore because I see those curtains and immediately know I have already seen the car a hundred times before. I'm probably not the only one that thought something must be wrong because it's been for sale so long. New pictures and a new description would give the car a fresh look and perhaps generate some new interest and attention to the lower price. Just my opinion.
Nope Originally sold by Folger in your own city after being reinvoiced. The one you are thinking about was Tom B's old car and it is an auto trans.
Ryan - Did the car originally come with other stage1 components (heads, cam, carb/dist) If the engine has not been restamped, it's possible that the assembly line needed a 455 motor and if a 'SS' code was the only one they could get quickly, that's the one that went in.
Yes, the car had stage components. My idea was as yours Marco. This is a great car and someone is going to get a great deal. The car was built to drive. Gessler heads and exhaust manifolds, etc.
:beer :beer :beer Thanks Mark! Just for giggles, has anyone verified the 'date codes' on the components :Brow:
Buicklawyer I was hoping Buicklawyer would buy the car that way it could stay here in NC and I could dream of one day buying it back hahaha wishfull thinking sorry to here you could not work out a deal it is one fine example of a very well done GSX. Mark Reeves did a great job on this car :TU:
