Does anyone know where I can find the specs on my car? It would be nice to know my horsepower, etc. Right now Im working in a lube shop, and we have a very big car directory in the computers, but my '70 is too old for any info.
Did I miss something here? Whats HTH? For specific info, I wanted to know horsepower/torque. But if there is some sort of website or something that gives all the specs, that would be awesome. Any inf I can get tho is great.
I found a little bit here: HP ratings for the 350 in 1970: 2bbl = 260hp 4bbl = 285hp 4bbl Hi Compression = 315hp
First thing you should purchase is the shop manual for 1970. There are always a few on evil-bay. Jim Schilf palbuick@aol.com
70 lesabre skuba steve, reading from my 1970 buick manual, all 3 available 455 engines were rated at 510ft.lbs torque. let me know if you need specs for the 350 motor.
Steve, In 1970 there were 3 different HP levels depending on compression, and carburetor. To figure out which one you have you need to look at the two letter engine code. It is stamped into the deck surface of the block between the 1 and 3 sparkplugs. You may have to spray some cleaner on the area to be able to see the marks. If the motor has been rebuilt, and the deck has been surfaced to true it up, the marks are gone. The 350-2V(code SO) had 230 HP and 350 TQ with 9:1 compression. The 350-4V(code SB) had 285 HP and 375 TQ with 9:1 compression. The 350-4V(code SP) had 315 HP, and 410 TQ with 10.25:1 compression. The SP motor is the hot one and came in the GS 350. I'm sure it could have been special ordered though. See if you can find the engine code.
