Not to point out my lack of Buick knowledge, but what's the difference between a 70 riv and my 71 Skylark?

A Riviera is a larger car, and more of a "luxury cruiser"....Something along the lines of an Impala vs a Chevelle in more common Chevy speak.

You hit that nail on the head. I couldn't find any real comparison. Thank you.

Actually, a more apt comparison would probably be a loaded Monte Carlo to the Chevelle, I think the Monte was even built on the same frame and platform from 70-76.
The Riviera wasn't quite full-size, but it wasn't intermediate either. They called it "Personal Luxury".

Yes Monte Carlos and Chevelles were same chassis....without trying to confuse the subject I was trying to explain they were a physically larger, more luxurious car....

Actually the rear suspension was the same so was the frame all the way to the fire wall where it is longer than an A-body frame after there. Also the Monte Carlos and Grand Prix cars had boxed in frames like convertibles.

There was a junkyard in Pennsylvania that took the Grand Prix and Monte frames and cut off the front longer section and welded on an A-body front section and sold them as convertible frames. They were welded with a jig, the one I have is a nice frame, not a bad way to go if you need(want) a nice A-body convertible frame.

I'd like to apologise to thread poster, didn't mean to open this can of worms. While I did want to know, (which impwla vs Chevelle worked for, thank you) This was a much bigger side step than I anticipated.
