Jim, Thank you! I might have not been clear in what I was looking for. I was wondering how many 3 speed manual trans per model for 1970 GS?
Plus, I show 48 column shift 3 speed 70 GS cars. All of these were in GS 350 coupes. What model specific information do you need?
Jim, I started to do research 1970 GS non stage 455 4 speeds cars see thread .http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?300142-1970-GS-455-4-Speed-Registry. In my conversations with some members, this started to grow legs and is changing by the day. They asked if I could include all 1970 3 speed manual cars in the registry also. That beings said could you break the 3 speed manuals down by model for 1970 if possible! Thanks again!:TU: Ron
Jim, Yes, I am only doing non Stage Cars! In the future I may PM you just in case something else changes, If you don't mind? Thank You! Ron
I would like to know how may were mistakes by dealers that forgot to check the auto trans or 4 speed boxes.
In 1970 Buick Built the following: 66, 1970 GS 455 Hardtops with base/standard HD 3 speed 510 1970 GS 455 Hardtops with M21 Close Ratio Muncie 4 speed 18 1970 GS 455 Convertibles with base/standard HD 3 speed 126 1970 GS 455 Convertibles with M21 Close Ratio 4 speed As you can see,1970 Big Block GS manual transmission GS's are very rare Big Block Muscle Cars.
Rich, Where did you get your (66) 3 speed number from? Jim has 82 from his data sheets. There seems to be some discrepancy on 1970 GS 455 hardtops 3 speed with floor shifter???? I would like to get within one or two for the best accuracy. I agree with all your other numbers. Wehave two different numbers 18 and 19 for 1970 GS 455 converts which is ok it's within one I am ok with that.
If anyone need a 70 3 speed cast iron Muncie from a 70 GS 3 speed I have one that needs another home.
My data came from Mike Trom's compilation of data from the Buick daily car reports in the Sloan Museum.
My understanding is there where 66 455's and 16 Stage 1's = 82 http://www.buickperformanceclub.com/GSprod.htm I have owned 2 3spd GS's : My first GS was a 1970 GS350 and I sold the Blue 1970 GS455 3spd in my avatar a few years ago. Both where a lot of fun and I never felt the need to put a 4spd in due to the fact they did just fine for being a driver.
Ryan, Two very nice cars. I never had a chance to drive a three speed on the floor. I hope some day I do, it's sounds like a lot of fun! Thanks, Ron
