Wow, sweet looking ride. Price looks very reasonable. Turn key Buick, hard to find a 1970 in this good of condition. Thanks Chris. Vet (JR)
I like this car. Look closely and you can still see where the extra little sticker for the "Evaporative Control System" (required for cars sold in California) was originally located on the radiator top plate. Also note, it has a deluxe interior but no woodgrain on the dash bezel. This has come up a few times in the past and some people mistakenly think that woodgrain on the dash bezel is part of the deluxe interior. That is not true for a '70 GS. The small block cars got a black dash, the big block cars got woodgrain.
I always wondered why you can buy replacement wood grain or Black for the dash. That's new to me. Vet
It's even mentioned in the dealer sales training film for the '70 GS that I uploaded to YouTube. Click on the link to the video and skip to 2:50 mark and it mentions "black camera grain vinyl" for the GS and woodgrain for the GS455.
Why don't people paint their master cylinders? Easwood makes a brake fluid resistant paint just for that.
I agree, I hate looking a totally rusted master cylinders. I have used Rust-Oleum paint years and it holds up super well. Too much rust, really makes the engine bay look ugly, unless you have a Rat Rod LOL.
Good question. Even Delco Moraine painted them black when they were new. There's even a factory Delco Moraine document that mentions it (I'll see if I can dig it up). Some folks say "oh some were black and others were left natural cast iron." but that is incorrect. No one can produce any solid evidence of that to be true. Look at old road tests, vintage photos of cars on day 1, etc. and Delco Moraine master cylinders are always black. I'm referring to '67-'72 models.
Good to know. I have a rebuilt "EA" that was painted black & I was going to leave it that way but didn't realize definitively they were all black.
This is a 23K original mile '70 Stage 1 from NH that sold in either early 2017 or 2018 with presumably the original master cylinder. Was this black when new?
Now $22,500 https://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/d/jurupa-valley-1970-buick-gs-in-great/7652904772.html
I was looking at the 70 GS Skylark again and noticed the lens on the dash gauges are flat, My 70 GS gauge lens are cone shape. Why is that??? Is it because my GS is a 455 and this other GS is a 350???
I'm good with the white walls. Keep it classy. Keep it gangster. Outside of Impalas and 80's Regals and Cutlasses, I don't see many white walls on cars these days. Kind of a refreshing change in a sea of RWL's.
