1970 GS 455 3 speed manual on floor or 4 speed manual, came standard with a 3.42 open axle. Buick gave you the good 3.42 gears but not the G80 posi.
Steve, Does this look like the Muncie or Saginaw 3-spd? Sorry, this is the best picture I could find on the transmission.
My 1970 Stage 1 three speed manual has a 3:64 rear end. If it had optional A/C, it would have come with a 3:42 rear end.
Correct - Stage 1 (auto or manual) got 3.64/posi w/o A/C & 3.42/posi w/AC. On a std. 455 car, it was 2.93 w/auto & 3.42 w/a manual trans. (both open) regardless of A/C or not. Good to see you in Bowling Green!
Hi Michael, I stopped by and talked with you about the boot, and with help from Steve Reynolds, found it was "sourced" from Oldsmobile since Buick did not produce a non-console boot of their own, and used on the non-console cars. I managed to find one, and wanted to thank you for letting me get a good picture of the boot. It just looks much better then just having the oval ring and boot that is used under the console. Your car stunning in every way! Hope to see you again in BG.
