brrrrr......I don't like places where the temp gets below 0. There is a reason they have a zero, it isn't supposed to get any colder than that!
Can someone point out to me on one of these pictures above as to whaere the difference is between the 69 and 70 BBB shroud? It's looks identical to my 69 BBB shroud.
Ahh ok, so that's the only diff. though right? Amazing, so actually the 69 shroud (68 too?) for the BBB is actually more rare yes?
More rare as in how many were originally produced probably yes, (there were more 70 BB GS and GSX's made in 70 then in 68 and 69) but probably no as far as how many are still available for sale. More desirable, no, as more people restore and / or clone the 70's than any other year and they bring more money than the other years.
Hmm, can't be production numbers that limit them, not according to the numbers I've seen. There were like 1/3 more BBB GS's produced in 68-69 than 70-72 combined. 68 being the biggest production year of any GS with over 13,000 GS 400's. Throw in 1969 and it comes up to over 22,000. 70-72 BBB just over 14,000 total from the production numbers I've seen. I definitely agree on the popularity thing though. That's probably why they are harder to get. Too bad the repro is crap (from what I've heard).
I was looking at each year individually, are the 68 and 69's the same part year? I haven't ever paid attention to it since I haven't needed one.
The 68 and 69 were the same except for the rad hose hook pad on the top like the 70 has. Each was a one year only. gary
Ahh, so the 69 is closer to the 70 than the 68, but still can't interchange with it because of the mounting tabs. Leave it to Buick to make a unique part three years in a row. ou:
Here is George's article with good pics. The lower mounting slots also have different dimensions as well as the uppers. http://www.buickperformance.com/FanShroudModification.htm
This is a very rare and hard to find original fan shroud in good condition. You can see it is cracked, but I believe it to be an easy repair. I can supply the name of an expert restorer in NC if you like.???????????? Chris Who might that be??????
