I will link in the ebay ad but it will be a couple of weeks. Unless I was dead set on doing a concours resto on a 70 GS 455 I would not bother to spend the money. Just get a repro.

Jim, in your opinion, who sells the best looking repro in comparison to the original? Who would you buy your repro from??? The plastic repro that I saw looks like garbage...

I have a nice restored shroud...I am not sure if I want to let it go as of yet ? Call me Rich to disscuss this option . I believe I may be able to get the 1970 in fiberglass still ? I helped the molds sometime ago .

The 1969 glass repo turned out very well . I will check on the 1970 version

I'm looking for one as well. I had mine off this winter and of course, a tool handle fell on it and smashed the top portion. I have all the pieces, all 8 of them.

I am really looking forward to Jim's guidance on the best looking repro 455 fan shroud that will work well and look correct on a non-concours car :Brow:

Unless OPGI is not selling Joe's repro his is the only one. Another option is to use one from the 72 or 71 model year.

Thanks for responding Jim. I went down to OPGI and inspected their 70 fan shroud. The biggest problem with this reproduction is the location where the hose hook attaches to the shroud. The repro has two blocks of plastic glued on top of each other and they are not cut exactly the same. You can see the glue between the two blocks of plastic and this area looks unfinished. A couple of the guys and I were talking about those cars which had these shrouds (at BPG last week) and how much this stood out from the cars with the original fan shrouds. I suppose one could try to do a lot of sanding and repainting the shroud to try and make this area look more like an original, but the difference is pretty evident and I was disappointed in the finished product that OPGI has because of this.

I have heard that there are only two shrouds that are currently repoped, one is the Plastic one that OPGI and the Parts place sells and the other is the fiberglass version that Year One sells. No one else makes this shroud...

As for using a 71 or 72 shroud, how would you add the section onto the shroud for the hose hook and have it look factory correct?:Do No:

Phil- I'd be interested in your broken shroud if you wanted to sell it.

You probably cannot add this feature without a lot of work. But unless you are doing a concours resto who cares. The same goes for an XS radiator.

Thanks, but I don't want to sell it. I've been told that it can be repaired here. I just have to get the time to contact the guy that does it and see if it can be done. I just thought it would be easier to find an original one here. I had no idea they were this scarce.

    Hi !
I have just ordered a new fan shroud for my 1966 skylark with 455 engine. They have to ship it by boat over seas so i guess i will recive it in december. I ordered the fan shroud for 67 gs400. Do you think it is possible to "sanding" the new fan shroud and then paint it black ? I have heard that this part have rough finish and are made of fiberglass.
