Clean hoods are getting harder to find. It looks straight and solid in the pics.
It does seem a little high tho...I'm thinking $1000-1250 with all the inserts and grilles.
Depends on the seller and how close you are to it. Says no Shipping so you gotta go look at it at least. Maybe a fiberglass hood could do what you want...

Posting deleted so somebody grabbed it. Oldsmobile has it's repopped fiberglass hoods available, why didn't anybody ever do a Buick version? Maybe with a steel frame? It would seem like a money maker for one of the parts houses to do a run because I can see a fair amount of Skylark (non GS) owners buying them - you could save weight on a GS, no rust again.

What was the price? Was it complete with all parts?

I think it was listed for $1750, didn't see inserts or hinges in add. The same person also had a bunch of 70 stuff listed 2 sets bumpers, multiple headlight bezels, tilt collum, fenders, non GS hood a bunch of other stuff for $1099. I was thinking of checking out the parts as since it's only a half hour away, but both ads are gone so I guess someone bought all of it.

I know the tooling and production for the 70-72 442 hoods, with the correct steel frame, not the cheaper parts place ones, was well over $100k to make them reality, and every batch or run is another chunk of change again.

I was scrambling to get my buddy in Phoenix to go pick it all up for me. He was out of town, and I missed it by a couple hours. That was a good deal.

Thank you Lucas. So, why bother with paying top dollar for an original steel hood when you can get a fiberglass one for under a $1000 delivered. Are all of the fiberglass hoods POS? The one from glasstek looks like it is bonded to a steel frame, like the better ones in the 442 world are, although those are more expensive.

I have an Olds buddy and he has a fiberglass W hood and it's "just" fiberglass because he could not afford the more expensive steel framed hood, and it has "fitment" issues.

I personally hate to reward parts hoarders if an aftermarket option is available. Like all those Nailhead aluminum finned valve covers are repopped, and those with originals want $$$ for them.

Because original factory steel is just better. Better fitting, smoother finish, etc. Plus, you just know it's real. If my Mach 1 ever has something happen to it's factory hood, I'm not going to go get a fiberglass or even steel replacement they make now. I'm going to find a real deal original one. If it was "just a car" I was working on, then an aftermarket one would be fine. But if you want the best parts for your best cars, you find original stuff.
