I put this in lost and found but thought it might belong here also.
First and foremost, this is NOT an ad I am in NO way affiliated with this car, I am only posting it because this forum has helped me in the past and if i can give back by helping someone locate a part they need then thats what it is all about. The car is a 1970 GS on Craigslist in Lyons IL. I used searchtempest when i originaly found it. Judging by the picture and the ad it is about 95% there, hood bucket, seats, console, motor sans heads, air filter, ect. Not to sure whats left on it now but it is a fairly new posting Dec 15. Thats the good news now the bad I called the guy about just buying the whole car (wife was not overly thrilled) and when i asked him about it he got kinda wierd, said the frame was rotted when i said that was OK he then said he cut it in half. Maybee Im just got a bad vibe or miss under stood him but felt like that was information i should pass on. Almost forgot the ad did say for parts only.

Sounds fishy. Could have the local PD check it out. Have to do something with those warm cars.

It's not fishy at all. John is a old friend of mine.
People don't read the ad and ask how much for the whole car.
    He parts cars out.
The car is for parts only.

The car is a rusty, but the desireable parts were in good shape.
He bought it non-running. It was a 350 auto gs.
The interior and front suspension is gone.
He might sell the bare shell with title when he's done picking.

I mean no disrespect towards you or your friend but I did read the whole ad it is just when i spoke to him on the phone it just sounded kinda odd with the whole the frame is rotten then it was cut up when i said that was OK. Just did not add up,figured he would at least shoot me a high price. Like i said maybe I miss under stood him never the less thank you for clearing it up.

    Brian,
I wish he didn't part out true GS's.
He has told me the money is in parts.
He gets alot of inquiries to sell the whole cars.
He might have made up a BS story about the frame to make the car sound unrestorable.
My reply was to say the car was bought legally, and he might sell the carcass after everything good was gone.
If you need gs parts, take a road trip and see if you work out a deal.

In looking at that car, would agree with the owner (John), that car is best parted out. I know it is a GS, but it looks pretty bad and you would end up spending two or three times what it is worth to restore it. The parts are probably worth 2 - 3 times what someone would pay for the car.
