what single hole do you speak of? I assume you mean the metal style and not early 70 Plastic type... I just check the two metal units that I have but I'm not seeing a "single" hole
yes, I need the metal style, not the plastic. If you look at the passenger/ right side of the top plate where the mounting bolt goes, there is a hole thats used to view the sight glass of the A/C receiver dryer. On the 1970 style, there is one hole. On a 71-72, there are two holes side by side.
I'm almost certain the 2 hole version actually appeared late in the '70 model year since I've seen a couple of unrestored '70 models that had the 2 hole plate. But the earliest one I've seen was built in June of '70 so it might have been pretty late in the year. So if your car is a really late '70 model a 2 hole might be correct. I've seen 5 different designs for this part on the '70-'72s but the most common seems to be the 2 hole metal cover since it seems to have run from late '70 all the way through a portion of the '72 model year, before Buick switched to the first 4-hole design.
Jason. Are you looking for a specific date code? I am pretty sure I have one around here dated 11th week 1970. That would be the 2nd week of March. Give me some time to search for it, and I will confirm.
I dont really need a particular date code. I have the original one hole version on my car with the original Stage 1 emissions decal on there now. It needs to be refinished but I really cant bring myself to scrape off the original sticker. I wanted to get another and save my original.
Well, as good as 42 year old sticker can look. The part number is still legible. I can post one up for you this weekend when I visit the batcave
Just curious, mine has the plastic cover and I belive its a very early 70 When did they change from plastic to steel? Nick
