Earlier today I dropped off my 1970 Skylark to get full body and paint work done by Darren at Xtreme Paint and Body. He should begin work on it in the next week or so when Harry's Stage 1 is done. This is my first Buick and my first restoration so needless to say I am excited. The car is an early production skylark with the pointed lenses and clear overflow tank. I was told by the previous owner it was a true 80,000 mile car as the odometer says and the guys that were with me and I fully believe that to be true due to the great shape of everything on it. I have decided to make the car into a GS350 Replica for now and possibly GS455 in the future. I am putting the car back in its original colors which are burgundy mist for the body and a glacier white painted top. I cant wait till it begins to take shape and I will keep updating pictures as soon as I get them. As you can see from the pics below I had a crew already working feverishly on it  .I would like to give a big thanks to Chris Lott, Patton Glade, and Phil Green for helping me tow down and de-trim my car and thanks ahead of time to Darren who I am sure is going to do a great job :TU:.
We found something interesting in the driver door panel...... ......hmmm I wonder what it could be  .......BUILD SHEET !!!!!
Thats an awsome color combo, gonna look sweet when it gets finished, clone or not :TU: That buildsheet is in awsome shape, too :beer
Bo, It's gonna look nice in that color combo. I'll get my junker  out of Darrens way on Sunday so he can start on your car. Harry
??? Whats all that stuff on the bottom of all your rear quarters???Oh, is that non rusted METAL ? We dont see much of that up here in snow country ! :ball: Good stuff guys, keep up the good work !
Harry - I dont think the word "junker" will every be used to describe your car again...I think "black beast" is more fitting  Andy - Thanks about the color combo, I really like it myself and barely ever see any cars with it. I think that is what I really like about it...its a little different :bglasses: . Do you still own the gold GS in your profile pic? Which gold is it? I love gold cars and am planning on that to be the next color I will be hunting for after this one. Gary - Yeah lucky for me they are pretty solid . After seeing that it was sold to a dealership in Texas there is no doubt in my mind that it has never been sold out of the state. Darren - Yeah I thought I would make it easy on you this time, maybe next time I will find a northern car to give you a challenge.
Just keep pushing for the repro sheet metal. Especially the full qtrs, outer wheel houses and fenders. I think the deck filler is already being produced. Sounds like there are a few on here that can make things happen.
Yeah---it is black---a cool plain-jane type door panel car and the door panels were VERY NICE. Just another nice winter day down here spent tearing apart someone else's car :Brow: (good vicarious thrill--we were trying to recreate the first few minutes of Overhaulin'). This will be an even nicer car when Darren and Bo get through with it. Who's next?????---That was just a warm up! Patton
all I know is from the look on Bo's face when we found that build sheet...he is hooked! He has taken the "musclecar resto" bait hook, line and sinker!!! Nice job Chris!!! :TU:
Yeah, I knew it was going to be bad when I took him junkyarding and he about jumped out of his skin when we walked by a '70 4 door skylark and all i hear is "Oh $hit!!!! Pointed lenses!!!!" and he had the dash about 1/2 apart in 30 seconds trying to get the things. Bo's hooked, I'm not sure how happy is bank account is about it though.
