That looks like a great and unique optioned car with hardly no options, ready for one thing. But stating that it has an option of a delete no power steering and no power brakes is false. Those were options that you had to order with the car if you wanted them. Not vise versa. My Reynolds car is the same as for p/s and p/b. It doesn't have them, but sloan docs simply shows it wasn't ordered. Not deleted. BUT! I have to mention, My car came to me with the correct radio delete panel and delete kit. But sloan says am radio. and after investigating all of that, it turns out the radio delete (option?) was canceled after 1969. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong?!?
Looks like the Thornton (spelling?) restoration from a few years ago of the same car that was on the NY Craigslist back in 2011-2012 for around $23K ish.
I believe that '70 bucket seats were only available with the 'Custom' trim, not the standard seat upholstery.
Mine has the "128" standard bench seat interior and no wood grain. This car looks to have the deluxe interior with no wood grain? Replaced standard with custom interior?
My GS 455 came with standard interior bench seat with wood grain dash inserts. There are other threads on here discussing this topic
This car had been a "no-sale" a couple time. IIRC, the owner that had Thornton's restore it had a ton of $ into it. If it was the car I'm thinking of, it was sold in 2017 @ BJ & went for big $ (maybe $120-140k ish?). IIRC, there were a few details Thornton didn't get correct. I thought there was something w/the tach but I could be thinking about a different car. As far as the woodgrain, Scott's (@1970 STAGE 1) super original '70 GS 350 survivor he recently sold which had a deluxe interior had no woodgrain so I'm sure it's possible that a few cars came off the line w/ or w/wo woodgrain that were or were not supposed to get it.
Dano, that is correct. No center arm rest, no A/C. I've owned the car since around 1986. I first saw the car around 1976/77 when a classmate/friend started driving it to school.
Sold BJ AZ in 2017 for $148,500 after several tries at auctions. Current owner: https://www.musclemotorsandmore.com/ He (Matt) has tried a couple of times to sell it since he bought it: Was a no sale at Mecum Kissimmee in Jan of this year at $74k. https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0120-397036/1970-buick-gs-stage-1/ No sale Sept 2019 in Dallas at $80k.
I wonder if the wood grain thing is a half year build thing like pointed lens and such? Or maybe even a build location thing? My car was a very early...of course Flint build.
