What I was really trying to say was don't let it stop you if its a nice car otherwise

I hear you 100%. And you are right, I would not let non numbers matching deter me from buying the right car!

At the end of the day, this is very similar to the car you originally inquired about in this post.

Do you see the irony? :D

Not really? The Jim Jerichow double blue car is numbers matching, and it has PS + PB, tilt wheel, AM-FM and hub caps and a bench seat(which I prefer). Last sold at $57,500, so a lot more value for similar money. But, we do know where this blue car is, and it is a beauty too!

Agreed but like I said when I bought mine: "you can't stand in a bread line and ask for toast".

The early bird gets the worm......or is it the early worm gets the bird?

And like Jason said in terms of numbers matching: if mine was, I'd be very hesitant to drive it as much as I do.

I feel like a NOM motor gives you a sense of liberation and the freedom to really lay into a car when you want - which is kind of what these were intended for in the first place.

As for a bench seat car with PS/PB: if you buy that car, you can do whatever you want to it - it's your car - and at the end of the day, it'll still be a beautifully restored and documented Stage 1 4-speed.

Something else to keep in mind: that 26K original mile triple black Stage 1 with a column shift hammered at Mecum last Friday at $90,000 and a basically brand new and "more desirable" example is a little more than half the price.

I know exactly what you are saying Brett. I once had a 1970 LS6 Chevelle with a brand new replacement engine, and I hammered on it a LOT, because I could! That blue car in Michigan is a beauty for sure, and a good value.

  14. I’ve been reading this thread and decided to throw my hat in the ring. I have a 70 GS that I’ve had about 18 years. It’s not the color you are looking for- bamboo cream with burnished saddle interior and vinyl top, auto, ps,pb,am-fm,AC, and most everything replaced but a very nice car. Engine rebuilt to stage 1 specs and trans is original to the car. I have the matching numbers engine but not in the car. The rebuilder said they would rebuild it but no warranty so I took it back. The block is 72 but a lot of the original parts were used in the rebuild. 12 bolt rear with 3:55. Only 8,000 miles since mechanicals done in 2005. I have a lengthy write up which I can email you if interested. I have it priced at $36k but would like it to have a good home. I consider myself as just the caretaker and have tried to do the best I can in this regard. I’m near houston.

  17. No problem. From the thread I got the idea that you might consider other cars. Thanks for the note.

Just buy the bamboo one. As soon as you do several blue ones will pop up to choose from!
