Someone should save this before he parts it out. Advertised in NY looks like it's in CT. More pictures in the ad. https://newyork.craigslist.org/fct/cto/d/1970-buick-gs-455-parting-out/6695908082.html
It's in East Hartford, CT. I have not looked at this one, but it does have the numbers BB trans, so it's a real Stage 1. Also has quite a few options. Typical New England car that has been sitting... IF anyone is serious, I can look at it on the weekend...
Other than a pair of emblems how can you say it's a St1 car? I don't see the BB on the trans tag, either. There's no title. Incorrect carb, distributor, no fan shroud. No title. Needs everything. Great parts car IMO. I'd think for the money they want that they would spend a few hours cleaning it up some.
It dose have a 70 455 someone needs to check the engine code an it dose have a correct chrome oil cap an 7.0 or WG wheel. ???
I just talked to the guy, his name is John. He knows Buicks and said this has the original BB trans and 3:64 rear. Engine is not original out of a 70 Riviera. It is a stage 1 car and was put in a container some time ago in it's current condition otherwise it would be a lot worse. No extra parts, all stage engine parts are gone. He will take 4k bottom dollar, he wanted to start parting out today, I asked if he could hold out for a day in case someone here wants it.
Original motor gone changes things. How do all of you feel about it now? Still a desirable car since it’s a “true” Stage 1? Or not so much. I feel the engine is the heart of a car. I could accept an incorrect transmission before a incorrect motor. Still hate to see it parted out.
I know, I've seen a lot less go for a lot more. He said roof is good considering it's a vinyl top, driver floor has some small holes.
He was telling me of an 80 year old man who lives not far from him that has a 70 stage 1 four speed car sitting under a tree since 1980. He wants 5k for it but it is in terrible condition. Floor is gone, rusted distributor is sitting next to the car and the engine was pulled yet covered next to it. All 4 speed stuff there he said he couldn't get the doors open. The old man has like 4 w-30 Oldsmobile cars also, just sitting in his yard.
I’m sure there is more rust under the top,and even more if you pull the rear glass out. What do you guys think this is worth as a whole,as it sits? Not having a title makes it a lot less attractive. It is an absolute pain to try & do that now. I’m looking at it as a parts car.
Matt- I know the owner and know the car. I KNOW it has the original BB trans with VIN stamp, hence, I KNOW it's a Stage 1. As Tom said, the story of the car AND the other cars is TRUE.
What I usually do is add up the high dollar parts. The parts that you know you can sell for some money. I don't even count all the good nickel and dime parts you can harvest. Take that figure and divide by 2.
I wouldn’t save it. I would use the parts for my other cars. I just don’t know if they are even good enough for that.
