This is on eBay on consignment to Gateway Classic Cars. The salesman called the owner who says he bought it back in the 1980s and it has been stored ever since. He says he did restore it. He declares that he's sure it's a real "one 0f 232" but has no documentation. I have the sales guy checking motor and tranny numbers now.

So, is anyone familiar with this car? The restoration is a bit sloppy in places but, I have a buyer who will buy it if its a real Stage 1.

Ryans-GSX Have fun, life is short.

You could contact Wayne Roberts with the vin to see if it is in fact real. The auction doesnt end for a few days and maybe he could just confirm if its a Stage1 or not over the phone and send you docs later on.

Is there a number I can call to try and get an answer in a day or so?

Yes, I did see it on Hemmings and it's definitely overpriced. But my friend Clint would be willing to bring it up to snuff IF it's the real deal. I'm waiting to hear back. It's definitely a sub $100K car IMO.

Im not a GS expert let alone a Stage.. Wouldn't a true stage car have a rear sway bar & boxed lower rears..... I think that is just a 350 Skylark in drag.... In other word not even a good clone.

I would think if you ordered a 455 A-body it would come with the F41.... Or at least Highly pushed by the salesman.......
I can see ordering with no PS, PB, manual, windows, bench seat, ETC..

Nope... Everything was a la carte. None of my 3 GSs (incl. the '70 S1) orig. were ordered w/F41.

Max Damage I'm working on it!

I am also going to say I am not an expert, but my instinct was the same as Bob's. Looking forward to the truth being revealed.

    Stage 2 iron,
So you guarantee it was an original bench seat car?

The trim tag is shown in the older ad. code 185 = Pearl bucket seats :)

I agree that the upholstery work is terrible.

At least this ad included a photo of the trim tag. The new ad by the current seller doesn't include it.

You continue to amaze me with how you can find cars for sale online and even find the old ads too.

I think he's got a home network with larger servers to store all of the data! Seriously, Chris finds them and remembers them long after the ads are gone.

If it's what's left of a real 70 Stage 1 ragtop, we are looking at a non numbers match #3 driver...

50-60 K would be top dollar, 45K a realistic price in my opinion. That car needs 30+K worth of resto work to bring it anywhere near the 75K they were asking for it the first time, I don't see 100K+ as being possible without the numbers motor and trans.

Seller is looking for a buyer with more money than knowledge about these cars, and current market prices.

Sad part is he actually might find one..

Interestingly enough. It is sad that there are some Muscle Cars that are now worth millions. And even those cars in dog house condition sell for more than a concours restored STAGE 1. And there are no rock stars , celebrities, sports heros, movie stars or 2% rich, that are even interested in BUICKS. They all buy the (sic) high end premier muscle cars for phenomenal amounts of money. And that is WHY BUICKS are at the very bottom of the market value. Olds W 30's were once worth less than Stage 1'S. Yet today they are worth considerably more. Pretty soon AMC'S will be worth more than BUICK'S ? Even being at the bottom of the barrel in values. The average BUICK enthusiast can't buy or can't afford or does not want to pay a reasonable amount for a GS by comparison to other muscle car buyers. It is getting to the point where it will cost more to restore one than they are worth ? If I was looking for a car I would jump on that 71 STAGE 1 Convertible that is on the cover of Hemmings Muscle Machines March 2012 .With an asking price of $140 K. You could not buy a driver and build it into a car like that TODAY. The car has near 100 % NOS parts including grille, hood inserts, NOS weather stripping. NOS list too long to list. People look for the bargain price driver? Then discover what is wrong with it, and that it needs restore. And then several years later working on the car and more money in it after it is done, realize THEN the turn key car that you can buy and drive NOW. Was better value. And then there are the DIY projects that are sitting in garages apart stalled because the home restorer thought it was going to be so easy and not take long !! But that is another story ? It's funny how people are "waiting" for the price of GS to (sic) "come down" When they are already rock bottom prcied compared to all the rest of Muscle Cars out there ? LOL

Rock N Roll GSX I have to agree every time a Buick is up for sale original or not it's always degraded, so it's no wonder they have no value. If their is no paper work to prove it then it didn't happen. Even factory paint get disputed.

I guarantee that Buick people aren’t the only ones that tear cars apart that are for sale on the internet. And I also guarantee that is not the reason prices have remained low in comparison to some other makes.

The only reason I would want Buicks to be worth more money is to potentially make more on a flip/sale, or to build a car to sell.

My opinion Buick prices are lower... Is parts... Can Buick a owner go to the parts store and fenders & quarter panels.... Bumpers...

The guy doing my body and paint wants my 67 4dr parts car Frame ..... Reason he can put a 67 chevelle on it one new repoped piece at time..

Parts are more expensive/harder to get/harder to sell & the end product is worth less. Can't help what we like I guess.

Thinking I'm going to sell all my Buicks/parts and go Chev., lol.
