Hi , Someone I know is looking for a right side rear lense for is 70 Lesabre . I personnaly know a 70(?) LeSabre for parts , and I notice some difference in the reverse light's lenght . "my" lense (blue car) reverse is shorter than the gold car . Ever heard about it ? Which's the good one ?
70 Taillights Hi The 70 LeSabre, also Wildcats, had a change in the taillight really the back up light lense. There is a type 1 and a type 2, lense. Not sure which came first. Both are correct, and should be the same on each side. I have searched and never found any date when they changed the size of the white lense.. I would find the best lense and search for a mate. I have several new lenses for the Wildcat and LeSabre, Let me know which lense you need. Also NEW rubber gaskets. Jim Schlf palbuick@aol.com
Thanx Jim , I'd like to know the price (plus shipping to Quebec, Canada)for the one with the "longest" reverse light , like the "goldish" car . The car is not mine but the owner really want to replace his cracked lenses (passenger side) Thank you Donald
70 LeSabre tail light lense Hi Don I have three NOS lenses, All are Left side, 2 small and one large backup lense. Not really what you wanted, Sorry. Any thing else you need for the 70. I have an excellent reproduction front bumper emblem, and some reproduction wood grained dash inserts. Jim Schilf palbuick
Hi, A while back one of my lenses cracked, so I did some searching and got a new one. Little did I know (at that time) that there were two styles. So one of my cars has mismatched lenses in the rear...one is the long style, and the other side is the short style. I'll check and get back to you, cos it would sure be nice to trade and have matching lenses again. Btw, I think the short ones came first, as when my grandma bought my car (back in October of '69) it had the short lenses. Not positive, but my guess.
My "contact" was very happy when I first told him that I founded a correct lense for is car ... but was deceive when I tell him that it's not the good "version" . He need the right side (passenger side) with the "long" reverse light . I see with him if is willing to trade to get yours , but the one I have to trade back is in a yard outside and I'll wait for next spring to have it , cause it's now very cold , and the yard is close 'till then . But one thing is sure , it won't move from there . Keep in touch . Tx
Taillights Is there any cross over for the 70 LeSabre taillights or are they model specific? Got a cross reference guide coming but God knows when it'll get here. Thanks, Anthony
1970 Lenses The Wildcat and LeSabre taillight lenses are different. The 70 lenses are differnt for any other years, 69 Completely different. Here are the part numbers for the lenses. Group # 2.682, 1970 5000 & 6400(LeSabre W/455) 1st type ( small lense) 5964188 rt . & 5964187 Lf. 2 nd type (large lense) 5963358 rt. & 5963357 Lf. Hope this helps. Jim Schilf
The 70 LeSabre/Wildcat lense is year specific, as was said above. However, the LeSabre lens will swap to the Wildcat and vice versa, without a problem. I've seen both types on both types of cars, which makes me think that there is no difference. Part number wise, yes, since there are the two types of lenses, but otherwise no.
Could they have done differents model of taillights for differents versions ? i.e. LeSabre = long reverse light & LeSabre Custom = short reverse light ??
Wow, I forgot about this post...it's old...anyhow: I suppose that's possible, but I've seen only a handful of LeSabre's...most of what I've seen are Customs or 455, which have both. Now that could be cos of accidents over the years or whatnot, I don't know. I think it's just something they probably changed midyear or so for whatever reason.
yeah I know , it's because the LeSabre has just been sold and the new owner is still looking for that ! Thanx
