Hey, I have a junk 70 Riviera, and can someone tell me what did the Buick Gods were thinking when they build this car.Why would they build it with a complecated X frame??A normal box frame would have done the job and cost less, been lighter......o No:
That's a very strong frame. Many '50's and '60's cars used this design. I don't think a perimiter frame is as strong, although I'm no engineer. I've never seen one rusted out, and I'll bet it would take an awful lot to bend or twist one. And it has a built in safety feature.......if for some reason the driveshaft should ever let go, since it goes through the center section, it could never penetrate the passenger compartment!:TU:
