OK I'm thinking of going to 17" Rims on my 1970 Skylark/GS/GSX, Year One has two kits that I like... One is 17X8 with 4.5" backspacing https://www.yearone.com/Product/1964-72-skylark-gs/mwb178k They say it was tested with 245/45 - 17 BFG G-Force T/A-KDW Tires... ################## The next one is fronts 17X8, rears 17X9... 17X8 w/4.5" BSing Front and 17X9 w/5.125" BSing Rear... https://www.yearone.com/Product/1964-72-skylark-gs/bmws1 Those would have been tested with 245/45 - 17 Front and 275/40 - 17 Rear... My Question is, has anyone tried those sizes on a 1970-72 Buick GS and if so how did they work??? I might be better off going 17X8 on all 4 but I like the idea of the 17X9 in the rear, I have different tire sizes now so rotating is only side to side to that doesn't bother me... So has any one tried 245/275 on their car??? Thanks David .
I know several people are running 17s. Have you done a search? I do not like the look at all. Looks too much like a Chevy rim. JMO
Ya I've looked at a few photo's on the site, I like some and hate others... I'm not going to go with a "No Sidewall" tire, I like tire in there... I getting close to needing 4 tires and I think it makes since to move up to 17"... I like looks of the American Racing 500's that are sold through Year One, they look a lot like the Buick Rim and (by the photo) come with Buick Center Caps... I'm redoing the front this winter (I already did the rears) with new springs, tube A Arms and 4 Wheel Disc Brakes so it make since to do it now... I was just hoping to see if there was any "Fitment Problems" with those size tires... Thanks
Ya I like the idea of the 17X8 Front and 17X9 Rear also... So how about it Folks, anyone run 245/45 - 17 Front and 275/40 - 17 Rear??? Lets see some photo's... So how about it, someone has done it, with all these 17" Tires that are on the 1970-72 Skylark/GS/GSX has had to run those sizes and taken pitchers... Let's see some Photo's... .
