I'm new to the forum - owner of a 1970 skylark custom convertible - 350 4 barrell. I moved the car out of the garage and proceeded to do some interior work. When I started the car up to move it back into the garage, the brake pedal went right to the floor and the brake light came on. Was able to stop, but just barely. I thought the problem was the master cylinder so I put in a rebuilt one. No change in the brakes - still goes right to the floor. The Brake booster lookes to be OK - not tested, but no wierd sounds coming from it with the engine running.

My next effort at finding the problem will be to elevate the car and look for brake cylinder leaks.

Any advice on finding out what is wrong is really appreciated.

Sounds like you could have a broken brake line. :Do No: Thats my guess, but it might be previously ruled out by you.

Thanks for the quick response. That's the direction I am going in also - I'll rerport back my findings.

Did you get it fixed yet? On my 'Lark it can be very difficult to bleed the brakes well - I usually do it with the engine running.

Sounds like you have a broken brake line or hose. If the booster was bad your pedal would feel rock hard.

Anything to report?? You'd notice the huge lake of brake fluid under the car if you burst a line...
