Looking for a 70-72 rear defroster. I understand there may be 2 versions. One is mounted in place of the left rear speaker.

The other version is longer and mounted in the middle of the package tray. Looking for the longer version.

    Thanks

3 versions - Very early '70 cars use the '69 style. Then there's '70 & '71-2 styles. Weren't eren't you going to buy my '70 setup a couple years ago and didn't:)? Maybe was someone else. Sorry we didn't get a chance to meet at the Nationals - I hung around your beautiful car for a bit. Your car and @tdacton 's sitting side by side was a sight to behold and really exemplified Buick class!

Thanks for the reply Dano. Don't remember about trying to find one before but it's been a while.
Yeah sorry i missed meeting you in person, so much was going on at the time. It was great to put a face to so many great Buick folks that I have communicated with over the years. Thanks for the accolades on the car. Lots of great looking cars that attended the event. I guess i am still looking for the long version of the defogger. Know of any??

    Thanks again

Yw & congrats on the car. I'm no expert but I think the "long" version is the really early '70 (actually holdover from '69) style. I thought '70 & '71-2 styles were similar shape. When was the car built?

I have one. I will try to get it out today. I have both center Mount versions 70 and 71/72. Believe they are different

Thanks Dano. This part is for my next project. It is a 70, stage 1, 4 speed , a/c car with tons of options. It is an early car built in October .

2dtrack, I would be interested in seeing both. looking forward to the pics and details..

Nice! I like the low option cars but something intriguing about a loaded Stage 1 4-sp. What condition is the car in? I'd love to see some pics & the Sloan report on it.

I think by October they'd gone to the '70 style defroster. Seems like that was one of, if not the earliest of the many '70 mid year changes. Glad Mark has what you need for it.

    Thanks 2dtrack,

Unfortunately those are not the style I am looking for. The style I am looking for has a vent that is about 2 inch wide and 12 inch long.

I have an NOS 69 rear defroster kit "A" body that I'm sure has the long vent but
not sure if everything else in the kit will work on the 70 ???

That's the '69 style - What Bill has would be correct but the dash switch wouldn't be the same (I have a '70-2 dash switch if you need).

Do you know for sure yours had that style orig.? I figured they would've been using the '70 style that Mark posted by the time your car was built.

    Hi Bill,
I would be interested in your kit. Can you please PM me pics and details.

Dano, not sure if it came with the 69 style as the car has none at the moment and the package tray has been replaced. At the moment just gathering parts to make sure I have options.

    Hi Bill,

Read your post in the "parts for sale" section. Hard to tell if the 69 version you have is the one I am looking for.
Awaiting your PM with pics of the actual unit.
    Thanks

Hi Juan,I hve the plastic rear defroster with 3 bolts and I have the metal one with 4 studs.I don't know if either one is the right one,but I have the all system if needed. But what Bill has if it fits, would be really good.Bruno.

    FYI,
The early 70 cars have the “cut-out” in the metal rear shelf panel for the rectangular defroster cover.

If your car does not have that, then it would have used the regular 70 steel cover defroster unit.

I am pretty sure that the 69 unit crossed over to the early 70 cars, but the cover plate for the dash, and possibly the switch would be different. The wiring probably would work also, but you would need to check that for length etc.
