Thanks Brett! I remember around 1978ish I went to a local upper level products camera, radio, watch, pen etc..store that had been in business since probably since the 1920's named "Jon Allen's" in Brookline MA. Family owned and well known before the big super stores destroyed it.
Long story short, I brought in this same ad that I think was a little bigger than the Hot Rod Mag size because I ripped it out of a Life magazine.

I wanted a poster size copy of it and the older gentleman looked at me like I had 2 heads.
First probably because it was just a pic of a old car that was a Buick but I wanted it in color like it was and at that time it would of been easily $100 or more to make it in color.
    Wow times have changed..

My theoretical dream car would be without the vinyl top,
but honestly the white or black top both look great.

Are you planning to put the vinyl back on?

Eventually, the car WILL be restored. Not this year or next… I want to drive it to the Nats next year… When I do restore it, YES, a new top will go on…

I will let him chime in on his thoughts….

I have sound deadner on the way, have the carpet, seatbelts have been cleaned… just need an upper seat back cover or complete upper back seat and the interior will just about be complete!!!
    -need to bleed the brakes
    -remove and repair the head

One thing Bill (original owner) told me was that he put the original stage 1 heads “in the trunk” when he sold it… They were not there when I purchased the car…
I called the previous owner and asked about the heads… “yup, still have them. Was going to use them on another engine… which I am never going to do… so, if you want them come get them!”

So, the car will now also have the original heads!!!!!

I'll sum this up in 2 words: time capsule. A time capsule with more paperwork than any of the 5 or 6 "barnfind" LS6 Chevelles that seem to magically appear each week on Facebook.

Aside from the 0246 Stage 1 Q-Jet and 2016 distributor (complete with overspray) and now the original heads still being with the car (or with it soon), the original alternator, voltage regulator and EA power disk master cylinder are still on the car.

I'd have a field day preserving this thing. Screw a restoration. It's only original once.

Clean it, make it mechanically sound and send it. People will be tripping over themselves to check it out and you don't have to worry about parking lot dings.

George's car looks great. So does yours. Mine? Eh:). Mechanically, mine may have started out better than either but...

Im with Brett,.. being how solid and true it is,..I would get some lacquer and burn it in to the original there on the body peak and try to just preserve and doll it up

Carpet will be cut to match the original today…
Will lay down sound deadner today
I bought an upper seat back (thank you Bruno!!) and dyed it- I think it’s a very close match to the seat bottom…
The original WG’s polished up very nicely!!!!
