I owned and sold to a good friend an original 1969 gs400 with 39 k miles that had pearl white interior, and it also had white a pillar covers.
George, How could you tell the car has a TH350 trans crossmember? What's the difference between the TH350 vs TH400 crossmember? Mike
See this article on our site which will explain the differences: http://www.buickperformance.com/transxmbrs.htm
I am not sure of the exact time-frame, but there was a change in white interiors sometime late in the 1970 model year. Eventually the A-pillar caps, the wind laces, the headliner, and the interior sail panel "ear muffs" became black. Most of the '70 cars I have seen had these items in white. I can only speculate as to the reason for this change, but Ralph Nader was still trying to protect us from ourselves at that time. White could have caused glare, thus the eventual change. I restrict my comments to the Skylark and GS as I cannot attest to this being true for all A-bodies, but the '70 Chevelles with white interiors had these Items in black.
Jim- are you refering to 1970 and UP A-bodies or ALL A-bodies? As one of my former 'orignal owner' 68 GS 400's had a WHITE interior with WHITE padded covers. A 69 GS 400 I know of has the original pearl white covers....
