Anyone know anything about this car or why it does not have a bid on it? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Buic...009QQitemZ190173764396QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW Mark
With a starting minimum bid of 20.5 k many will assume that his reserve is going to be on up there. Must be pretty hot with a no AC, dark colored car like in that Tucson.
its a nice looking GS. i have a question for you concourse guys. take a look at the engine picture. are the heater hoses supposed to be that long?
I called the man selling it and he is a broker (or dealer???) he has no details on the car all he know is it was a professional job (said that to me at least 5-7 times) no numbers on the block as it was decked does not know anything about carb, dist, ect ect. He kept saying it was 100% coorect. I did not bother telling him all the things I could see that were wrong about the car just in the pics.(ie..shifter handle, dash woodgrain, sport mirrors, ect ect) he is looking for 52k I think on the car. all that said the car does seem nice but WAY to many ??? about the car and no answers.
He must have a different concept of "correct" than the rest of the world. Regardless, it is a nice car but these guys shouldn't expect top dollar with all that is INCORRECT. I'd still drive it home with the proper discount.
He must be the "Grand" sport ad author. Nice car but almost no car is 100% correct. Here he has the incorrect: year shifter handle year radiator radiiator cap? horn button ( missing) maybe seat belts dip stick (at least color ) Master cylinder Brake booster finish standard gear was a 3.64 if factory no AC And I am sure if we looked many others. But this is not that unusual and you can fix these.
The "strippo" GS 455 I had was original when I bought it on a used car lot in East Point back in 1980, it was the same car, black on black with no air and no top, but it had a bench seat, column shift, and had no woodgrain on the dash, standard steering wheel. Is the fact that the console has woodgrain and the dash has not the issue? Or the fact the dash has no woodgrain at all??
Ryan When you were speaking with Dealer did you ask if it was a true black on black car with no vinyl top? Also is it an F41 rear sway bar car originally? Did he have Sloan or WR documentation? Rich
Yes I saw them and meant to mention those. The car has had a redo and it is unclear to me whether it was a factory Code 19 car.
Rich, I cut my questions short after only a few as I could tell this was not a car myself or anyone I know was interested in for over 50k.
Both my 70 GS455 and my 70 GS Stage I 4 speed car have/had the black dashes w/ granny steering wheels. I'm wondering did all 70's have wood grain handles if they didn't have wood grain dashes?
I THINK that if you had a black non-woodgrain dash you would not have the bucket interior where that was an issue. I've never seen a black dash come with an upgraded interior like bucket seats. Anyone have such an animal?
Going by memory here, but I believe you are correct, John. Base interior, with non-woodgrain dash inserts, was not available with buckets. No buckets, no console. Column shift only.
That one sure was. I bought the car in 88' and it had 4 speed, console, buckets, no air, granny wheel (which I replaced w/ a sport wheel from Mike G) and according to Eric Ruge here in KS, who I bought the car from (he was the 2nd owner if memory serves me correct) the car was as it came from the factory, w/ exception to the the 4.78 gears the original owner had special ordered from GM...it had correct 3.64's back in it by the time Eric sold me the car. That is the car I wish somebody could let me know where it ended up...it sold for rather large coin 2 years ago...62K RACEBUICKS remembers that car well...all three of us, myself, Eric and Mike sure hated to see that one go. I should have let the 1st wife go insteadou:
sorry to burst your bubble collector, that car was real...although all I have left of it is my broken grill from it and a pic that hangs on the wall.
He is a dealer and he says he has had the car for 18 years in the ad but tells you he has no details on the car ou: For $50K+ asking price he will have his non numbers GS another 18 years!
