OK, I am looking to verify some info and was wondering if anyone here thinks they have the original radiator for their car. The original radiators had a tag clipped onto the passenger side tank. I am looking for the tag info, the letter codes stamped into the passenger side tank, and the body build dates of the cars. Below is a picture of an original radiator for comparison. Thanks for your time. Duane
1971-72 Radiator Info Duane, I no longer have the original radiator but I kept the tag: IA SS CF 30 CF - I'll guess was my tank stamp. SS is also on my GMAD sheet: Box #45. Build date: 08D. "12 08-25" in box #10 of GMAD sheet.
I'd post a pic of mine, but I guess I don't have to..... Duane, my radiator was out for repair once in the late 70's. It wasn't recored, just a little solder added. As far as I know, the one I got back is the one I sent out. I only post this as I am wondering what the "69" means. o No:
Ken, That is definately your correct radiator. The Tag is correct (it matches whats in the assembly manuals), as is the date, plus it has the large head screw-in plugs for your 4-speed set-up. So what are the chances that it's not yours, very slim I would say. I have a theory about the "69" but not enough info yet to comment. It sure would be nice to get some radiator plant info instead of cross-referencing everything. Duane PS. Jeff, I answered my own question, I believe your car had AC.
No need to theorize about the 69 meaning. It is the core size. The XS is the size of the passenger tank. The IA is the drivers side tank size. SW is designation for the overall combination of all the pieces referenced above.
Well I guess that takes care of that. Thanks for the info Jim. Duane Now does anyone else have any info from original tags/radiators?
Duane, I dont know if I gave you this info but here is a pic. This is from a 1970 GS 455 AC car. Built in Framingham. Early car. Thanks Dustin
