My 58 has a rebuilt title had I have no problems in MO getting it in my name and on the road. There is no indication of a major accident except that the front clip has been repainted. So possibly a fender bender at some point way back in the 80's, and it wasn't worth anything at the time...so they "totaled" it and fixed the car.
Very much may be a non-issue & may vary from state to state or overseas & regardless IMHO should've been disclosed on BAT. It is now if someone follows the link to this thread.
He posted a pic of the registration & there's no indication. I was also thinking it could've been a mistake at the auctioneers but I would also think the seller also would've had that corrected immediately.
Ray I noticed the same thing. I even did a side by side picture comparison with a real nice 70 sea mist car you might recognize and then with a nice lime mist car I had saved some time back. I initial thought oh that’s seamist and then I was reading the paperwork on the car and saw lime mist and I was like really. Nice car but I’m not sure the color is spot on.
Spot on with my car? I now see that ‘71 Lime Mist is a bit brighter than my ‘70 Seamist but my Seamist looks different in different light conditions and camera exposures.
Ray - it's the base clear giving much more light variation than it originally would have with Seamist. Original paint was a very different story IMHO
Understand. The middle photo above is much closer to what Seamist looked like back in the day. Much less "glossy". I've compared my car with an original Seamist 1970 GS Stage 1 with original lacquer paint and it's very close as long as the two are compared side by side in the shade, not out in the sun.
Am I seeing right? The bat wing steering wheel looks to be installed 180 degrees out when the car is moving straight ahead?
You are correct! I positively hate "crooked" steering wheels... No reason for it other than shoddy workmanship, lack of ability or just plain laziness .... I can not (will not) let any car off my alignment rack with a steering wheel off center....... I like this car, but as always, its the little things (like this) that scare me away.
I believe you're correct on the Stage 1 auto/manual being the same for '71 (& '70, '72) and being the BAT car is a std. 455, it has the correct non-S1 manual trans carb.
Why don’t they require photographs of all the numbers before even running the auction ? Probably cost them a sale . Bidders can’t make an informed decision if you don’t provide the information , crazy .
We see this at EVERY auction nowadays and it sucks. What makes it worse is often times the auction site (especially BaT) tries to make you out to be the bad guy for asking too many questions...
