$33,800. Located in Discovery Bay CA. If you want a very nice, original Stage 1, this is it. This is a documented, NUMBERS MATCHING, Stage 1 car with the original window sticker and Protect O Plate documenting authenticity. (I have a photo of VIN on the engine and of the window sticker, I can email it to you if requested). The car has only 53,615 original miles on it. I located three prior owners including the original owner (there are other owners I did not locate). They provided me with information that would make it likely the mileage is accurate. The car comes with some various mechanical repair receipts over the years where mileage was documented when the work was performed. The last several owners, like me, maintained the car for show and did very little driving. I purchased the car in 2008 and may have logged about 1000 miles on it. It has California "STAGE 1" personalized license plates. Besides the very low mileage, what makes this GS Stage 1 rare is the color of the paint. It's the "Rosewood" brown. According to the Stage 1 registry, out of 10,095 GS cars produced in 1971 only 124 coupes were ordered with this color. It is unknown how many Stage 1 cars, if any others, had this color. Specific Stage 1 records for paint were not kept. I have been involved with Buick GS cars since 1995, having previously owned a 1970 where I won the 1999 Good Guys Muscle Car of the year award in Pleasanton Ca. I attended the GS Nationals several times and there are other brown variations but I have never seen another GS with this Rosewood Brown color. There were only 801 Stage 1 cars build in 1971, so it is unlikely many others came with this color. The car is in very nice condition. I recently had the original Rally wheels re-chromed. The centers were painted with the correct flat back. The rims of the spokes are the correct "brushed" finish rather than bright chrome which is how many are refurbished. I purchased new BF Goodrich tires several months ago. I replaced the carpet recently. The dashboard and steering wheel are like new with no fading or cracks. The paint is not perfect but is in very nice condition with minimal imperfections. I was told by the previous owner the car has had one re-spray. I dont know when it was repainted. I encourage you to inspect it before bidding. I disassembled, detailed and resprayed the engine compartment with the correct satin black and sprayed the trunk with the correct spatter paint, so these areas look like new. Other than what I have mentioned there is nothing on the car that looks modified. The interior is in pristine condition, center console and original vinyl seats, bucket style up front. It has an automatic Turbo 400 transmission. I have receipts for the transmission being replaced at 44,749 miles on May 21, 1996. The car shifts solidly, and no leaks. The rear end differential has 3.42 gears, posi-traction and is a 10 bolt. All are standard Stage 1 accessories. The car starts easily and runs strong, never a miss or stutter. I had the original carburetor professionally rebuild about two years ago. The car steers straight and does not drift side to side. I use this car for local shows but you could drive anywhere with no problems. The car has not had a frame off restoration. The undercarriage is fairly clean some parts have been resprayed, but overall the undercarriage is in great shape. The floor pans are not rusted and appear original. The H pipe configuration dual exhaust is not the original. The gas tank is also not original. The disk front brakes and rear drums are in very good condition. I have a second pair of brand new air cleaner foams for show and new door seals that I have not put on yet. It also comes with a car cover. I am unaware of anything wrong with the vehicle. Due to its age, it is sold as is, there is no warranty, so feel free to inspect it.
I agree - nice car. I usually don't go for brown cars but the color on this one is kind of growing on me. Can you post a list of the original options that came with the car? Also you say the transmission was replaced. Was it replaced, as in no longer the original trans or is it the original trans that has been rebuilt? Note - I am not in line to buy this car. Looking for more info to decide if I want to get in line. Thanks.
The original poster had the car for sale in 2013. It has changed hands since. Look at the date of the first post. BYoung currently owns the car.
I did not buy the car from the person who posted this for sale ad. It was sold to someone else and I purchased it from them in 2017.
This happens. It would have been nice if the original poster had updated the ad to SOLD. I have always loved browns, golds and beige (beige more for 1930's Art Deco) I get that these colors are not popular, but I always liked them. Burnished Copper.
