I am going to take a look at a 1971 GS455 Stage One 4 speed numbers matching car. Supposedly has been in storage for the last 35 years or so. I have some crappy pics sent to my phone I will post later tonight. Burnished saddle with white interior. Looks like the car is all there and needs restoration. Couple of questions that come to mind , Are the 1971 cars really hard to verify numbers ? What would be a ballpark value for this car when fully restored ? Still have not seen the car yet and will take my own pictures when I do and post them. Just trying to get some insight on this. Thanks Guys
To really, really verify it, it needs to have its own paperwork. There is no external source right now. Unless you did it yourself, I do not see a way to fully restore it and not be upside down. I would say 40-60K tops on the other end of a restoration.
When I originally got contacted I thought it was a convertible and that would have been a game changer
Is the car in the Stage 1 registry? Do your homework 3 times over Know more than the seller If you have the answers to the questions you should do good? There are 60 to 70 registered 1971 Stage 1 in the registry. How bad do you want this car?Awsome car but protect your self Alain restoring a silver fern Stage 1
It has 1972 grill headlight bezels and hood lip molding.also looks like stage 1 fender emblems are in the wrong spot. I would check all numbers first..
If the Motor does not have a matching vin number that's a huge price drop regardless if it's a 4 -speed. Buy it and just make a toy out of it don't go crazy on a restoration.
Incl. the frame. Would at least prove an orig. 455 car. Look @ the underside of the hump too. Floor should be very crudely cut (I.e. with a torch).
Guess we can put this one to bed. I was informed tonight that the current owner who bought the car from a Buick dealership in 1972 is going to keep the car and restore it. He has cancer which prompted the possible sale when they reached out to me. He just found out his cancer is now in remission so he would like to restore and drive the car again !!! GOD BLESS HIM AND HIS BUICK !!!!
I am going to take a ride and visit the guy at some point and offer him any info I have for him. Have never spoken to him just to a friend of his and I am pretty sure he is an old timer. Hopefully they will join v8buick
Probably another poorly dressed up Skylark , I will update info here if I ever actually see it in person
