Hello all, I just bought a 71 Lime Mist Skylark convertible. It needs the top replaced and I'm trying to figure out if I want to go back with the black top or switch to a white top. Does anyone have pics of both color combos? Pics of hardtops with black or white vinyl tops would also work. Just so I could get an idea of what I might like. Thanks!
Post pix. Although I generally like the white top better, the black would match the interior. Going to be a tough choice for sure.
Here they are. I bought this off Craigslist in Wisconsin. My buddy looked at it and picked it up for me. It's at his house, but I'm in Oklahoma. I should be going up to get it in two weeks. I think a white top would look better, and change the paint on the wheels to black (factory like). Be nice to drive around on a warm summer evening.
The wheels look pretty bad painted body color. I've got some 15 inchers for it. Should look better with them, especially painted black.

My car in my Avatar is not a convertible, but it does have a black top to give you an idea. I prefer the black (and not just because it's what I have)
Interior color did not always indicate top color of what was available. My 70 442 W-30 came with a factory installed black interior and white top. Right on the data tag and sales invoice. One thing I do not think anyone metioned yet is cleaning. White tops are a bear to keep clean. They get dark stains and you will be a slave to it and a scrub brush. I was. That and the fact it came with black should make choice easier.
I vote white. I had my sun coupe painted lime mist, the top is white and it's a great combo. I wish the body was in as nice of shape as your 71. Keep your black boot for when you have the top down. And top up the black interior will work with the green and white.
I think that I like the white top better as well - more of a contrast against the lime green. Wasn't tan another color option for the convertible top?
I really like a white top with the lime color, I'm just not sure of keeping it clean. My buddy also likes the white top, because it looks more "70's" to him. He said with a "high impact color" you need the contrast of the white top. It's been over 100 degrees the past week and the white top would certainly be better for this heat. I'm leaning to white, but still not sure. I've got a GS hood, sport steering wheel, disc brakes, sport mirrors, and 15" wheels waiting for it. Hope to pick it up in two weeks!!
