what is a u code?

 

In 1972 "U" code in the VIN means that it is a factory big block.:Brow:

 

U = GS455
V = Stage1

 

I posted this car last night,different thread:laugh:http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=177913 Looks like it was discussed on the board,but i couldnt find any threads on it.Remember,they didnt roll out of the factory in stage 2 condition.Ask for dealer paperwork to prove it.

I spoke with the owner at length, he is knowledgable with Buicks and believes that this was a dealer installed Stage 2 car at one point but the original engine and trans is long gone however he has a very stout 72 correct dated 455 /M22 four speed in it now with alot of good performance parts.

It seems like a decent price depending on any rust issues.
