The buyer will need that "Twin Turbo" when they are driving around the airport trying to get their money back!   Still is a damn nice car though, just tell everyone it started out life as a Buick Skylark like he did in his other ad for the "Shelby" and everything is cool. Beautiful work though on the restoration :TU:
"Expert" at giving you just enough vague and questionable info to make a GSX investment on a Skylark! Maybe this is the ONE time GM means GREAT MISTAKE! :TU:
Is 25K out of line? using this previous auction as a reference if the buyer pays 25K no matter what the original car is do you think he is paying too much? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...m=300015376391&ih=020&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT We all know what the Parts cost, assembly and High quality paint on a clean skylark convertible (costing at leat 7K to start the project with). I do not think this car could be built to high quality statndards for under 30K, at 25K this could be a good buy. Big block convertibles have a market, even as clones so I want to see where this ends. I know what I paid for a high quality stage one (built by one of our own board members) 4spd recreation and it was not cheap. But I paid for the satisfaction of having the car roll of the trailer and be ready to drive. Interested in Board feedback on this question. Thanks, :TU: Bottom line the seller is deceptive, but the buyer may be smarter than we are giving him credit for. If I did not have my car already I would consider paying 25K for this vehicle, but not 33K like the one in the above link
Progress! Hey !!!! He did correct it (made addition actually)! Seller added info: "CAR IS A GS STAGE ONE 455 RE-CREATION NOT A GSX. IT WAS REFERENCED AS GSX IN ABOVE DESCRIPTION . THIS WAS AN ERROR. SORRY FOR THE CONFUSION ." Okay now that, that is cleared up, I would without a single doubt pay the 25k he is up to now on that car. I can see it going into the 40's with the right buyer (probably high 30's under normal circumstances). I couldn't do that car in that quality for under 40k I am sure. Now that he has made everything clear I hope he makes a ton on it! :TU:
One for Mike Hey Mike, here is your 69 Hurst ...... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180033575796&sspagename=ADME:B:SS:US:1 Jim, you leave it alone you have enough cool stuff :spank:   It has wrong rims, motor, air cleaner, side mirrors, and they don't mention the transmission code (although they say "it is all original" gotta love some of these sellers! ) Some of these ads are like:.......... "Yes it is ALL original except the entire drivetrain, the paint, wheels, interior, and all body panels BUT other than that EVERYTHING (what? The keys? ) is original. Collectors dream "
The yellow convert above just carried me down the road last night and will again this afternoon. Yes, it is one of a kind.(one of none)[/QUOTE] Jim; You have a great looking convertible I have one too, without the stripes.
We lost 5 K or more off the price It is at 20K reserve not met, I wonder what happened? Somebody looked at the car and saw something they did not like?
Hey John, Yeh, click on the "bids" link and look underneath all the bids area. There are two bid retractions down there. One of the bidders had bid all the way $28,000 but retracted the bid because "seller revised description". The seller should be glad he changed it now because about time the 2 bidders ran that thing on up into the 30 or 40's or better and THEN found out it was not the "rare" car it was advertized to be he'd be in a world of trouble. Wish I had the moo lah to still get it though, that is one KILLER looking car regardless what it started life out as :TU:
Where do you think the reserve was hit at? Yea it is real nice I would like it too, but I would have to sleep in it in the gargage after my wife saw it sitting in her parking spot in the garage (it is the only one left). Might be worth it?????? Go Twins!!!!!!!! :3gears:
The owner of the car just e-mailed me and sent the VIN. The car was stated to be a Skylark and cloned from there, it has milage in excess of 100K and the total is unknown. No stage 1 here, just a plain Skylark in pretty paint. Not that that is all bad, but it is very mis-represented.
The new owner just emailed me.He said he was going to put the seatbelt on after paying for it, and first noticed an "X" on the seatbelt label. He initially disregarded that but when he turned on the air vent he heard some racket ("like a playing card in bicycle spokes" he said). There was some paper up in the edge of the housing under the dash. He was about to throw the paper out when he noticed it was on Buick letterhead .Turns out the paper gave factory documentation of this being the 1972 Detroit Auto Show car for Buick Motors Division! It went into the details that this car originally starting life at Buick Engineering in Flint as a plain jane skylark convertible. It was then transformed into an example of every performance and cosmetic option available that year and was the hit of all places it was shown. The guy told us it was rare, but who would have believed this (YOU aren't believing this are you?  ) ou: Anyhow clone, fake, recreation or whatever sure wish I could have gotten it.I'd like to see that one in person some day. Congrats to who ever got it :beer
