hi everyone. i bought a 72 suncoupe back in march. they guy said that it was a rare car?can anyone tell me if he was right?when i got the car it had not been started for about 10 years.after checking it out i started it and guess what happened?it blew off the oil filter.after finding the cause which was a stuck check valve in the oil pump.so i pulled it off and took it to a shop that said they could do it.rebuild it that is.well i got it back ,put it on and started the car.well they drilled the pressure hole out so i didnt have any oil pressure.i did not know this then but i do now.so if some one tells u they can do this job make sure u look at the part and take a picture of it so u can compare the pics when u get it back.so now i had to find another 455 4 barrel engine.and i did for 200 bucks tranny and all it was in a 64 chevy and it is all buick. so to anyone who likes buick 455s i will take 200 dollars for the locked up engine complete carb to oil pan.plus a 100 bucks for the turbo 350 trans. i an keeping the 400 trans that came with the car.i can send pics upon request.it is still in the car.soon it will be out thiough

The suncoupes are pretty rare, to my understanding 3,943 were built not including GS suncoupes. Post a little bit about the car, history, color, options, etc. Suncoupes are very cool, definately something different. Welcome to the board!:beer

    in addition

They were a one year only option, 1972. Deffinatly a one of a kind car. No other american car manufaturer had the insight to do such a thing:TU:

Actually, I think you could get '71 or '72 Pontiac Venturas (the ones that were built on the Nova platform) with "Suncoupe" tops. I saw one in a book once, and it had a specific name, but the name slips my mind right now.

I can't say for sure on the production figures, I just found that information on one of the SunCoupe websites. It looks like you have a pretty good project there. There was a thread a while back, I believe in the ragtop section of this board, that showed some pretty nice SunCoupes. It looks like your car is Stratomist Blue, that will be a VERY nice looking car when you get it done. Such an awesome color combo.

    gotbuick What, me worry?

Did the car come with a 455?

Skylark Suncoupes are hard to find. Buick farmed these out to Landau Tops to have that clever accodian placed on the roof. If you want an ultra rare Suncoupe try finding one of the few GS Stage 1's.:eek2:

P.S. "pureluc" its ok to put your name in around here.

    storm yeah.......

Yeah when i bought my suncoupe i really did not even know what i was getting. But i do like it. It is real cool to be able to open the roof up and just be able to look up at the stars.

no jerry it was a 350 car. and the owner before me blew up the 350. so then he put a 455 in it. it took me 9 years to get this car. it was sitting in his backyard going to waste.
