Ok I got this stage 1 convertible that I need to get rid of, I simply do not have time for it at all, It is probably the worst I have ever seen, below is a link with pictures of it for those that have not seen it. I really hate to part it due to the fact of it being so rare. Is this thing worth fixing, trading off or should I totally disassemble (destroy) it and sell off what it usable to the V8 crowd? Basically, what I am asking is, because of the condition of the car, would I make out better financially to part it, sell it to somone who wants to attempt a restoration or sell it to someone who wants to use it as a donor or.......? I hae to scrap it out bt that may be all it is worth!

I would suggest selling it complete, if at all possible. I can't see parting out a car that rare.

Whoever buys it will need deep pockets - from your description!!

Normally you would be better off parting, but this thing I think is kind of a draw? Looks like to me the most valuable piece is the rearend, then the sport wheel, then the motor, then the mirrors and misc. A/C pieces. The hood and body parts being shot cuts into what you'd make parting. It would be a shame to part this out, and it's probably about a wash either way. I'm thinking you probably didn't pay much, so you probably won't get hurt either way??

I dont have alot in it but the VIN plate alone has a attraction... Are there possible RARE restorable parts that are significant to this car that may be of value to owners of the rest of these things. I feel once I start disassembling, ther will probably be a significant amount of stuff worth something! It was a running car whe it got parked. I would prefer to sell it whole or trade it, I may run an ad soon.

Well, look at it this way, if the rolling chassis is solid and the convertible parts are in decent conditon (header, mechanism, rear fenderwells). The rest of the car can be replaced(fenders, doors, hood, core support, floors, trunk floor, rear qtrs, trunk). Hopefully the cowl will be in good shape.

Outside of the block and transmission, there are no Stage-specific parts, so parting it out would be no more profitable than parting out a Skylark convert with the same options and condition.
Surely someone will take it and put it back together.... please!!!!!.....

I have seen this car in person, and although it's rough I feel it's worth saving. I also think it's worth more whole than parted out also. This car will sell VERY easily.

I remember hearing someone (favorites were the 50's cars) telling me yesterday's parts car is today resto project!

I am sure someone will get that car and bring it back to life!

All I can say to anyone that might be interested, come and look at it first and make me an offer, I would entertain trades as well. It has gotta go!I am going to put a link to this thread in the cars for sale section.

If you happen to take pics after you clean the garbage and what-not out, please post new pics.

    Thanks Bill,

    How about this?

This is the ideal car for an essay contest. Anyone who is interested sends you a 100 word essay on why they want it and $25.00 (or whatever). You decide on the criteria; most humorous, most deserving whatever.

You pick a winner on December 1st and the winner has 2 weeks to pick it up or you move on down the list.
