So if we are calling the 68-69's Step children then I guess that makes the 73-77's Redheaded Step Children as they are even less loved/provided for. Is there enough interest in the 73-77's to lobby for their own category?
I would enjoy a separate category for the 73-77 A bodys. I justed finished a 75 Pace car for my brother and my next project for him is to do a concors restoration on a 73 Stage 1
I am working on a parts list of whats available for my 73 Century with reviews of the pieces I've bought. The list is pretty short as nobody is making much for the mid seventies GM midsize cars. Really is a shame as these ride and handle much better than the 68-72's.
For years I’ve called ‘73-‘77 Montes ‘Disco Carlos’. Maybe the Buick’s name should be the era, or a reference to them being sorta turtle shaped, with big ol’ bumpers... Patrick I got it—maybe they’re the inbred grand children?
You guys are so funny, I've owned 5 '73 GS/ Century's, if I count the Century my brother bought to fix his GS 455, probably more, I bought parts at the GS Nats, BCA Nats for these cars for years, still have one and a bunch of parts, unloved and no repro, rides better than a 1970 GS/Skylark, were not as fast of course. I have some rare parts, that might be of interest to reproduce if there is interest but there is alot of mula invovled in doing that.
I love the 73-77s. As hind sight is 20-20 I should have kept my 75 Pace car. It is just something about them that is cool. Even my youngest has a 77 Lemans he is working on getting running. Tim
Steve, there is interest in the 1973 -1975 Buick Century Gran Sports. I personally really appreciate these end the line special and very rare Gran Sports.
I just pulled a 76 century in for a makeover and heart transplant. Swapping the v6 for a 455. And going from silver to the love of my life BLACK.
Here are some of the parts I've purchased and installed so far. I'll try to remember to update this as the car progresses. I like the 73 to 77's There a bit heavier yes, they do ride better, handle better, and quieter, the only drawback is the engines are kinda anemic, but that's easily remedied.
https://rockford.craigslist.org/cto/d/rockford-for-sale-1976-buick-regal/6906574824.html I agree and like them too. especially like this one. But it's so hard to sell one! This car should be worth 10 K but it will be real hard to get even 7 or 8 K. I would buy it for $7500 maybe, knowing it will be a hard sell later to break even. They are great driving cars, not fast but comfy.
I especially like that year, the sharp body line are sweet. The dash is cool too, kinda wrap around "cockpit style" like the early 70's big Buicks
I do believe the mid to late 70s stuff is coming around popularity wise. The older stuff is nowhere near affordable anymore. Also people around my age who grew up with this stuff now have spending money. As someone mentioned, the anemic engine issues are easily fixed nowadays.
