  1. had a 77 camaro, red carpet, dash, console with white seats, door panels, and headliner. Drove me nuts.

Myself and others on this site have been watching the 1974 you are referring too, and it has been for sale for a long time. This is actually what I based my price estimate of 18k on for the car in this thread. I believe this car is on consignment so you have to figure the markup is 5K or more. This car is way overpriced and my experience has been that these dealers will not budge on price (does not hurt to try). I paid over 10K less for my 1974 GS 455 (with 42K original miles) so based on that and the recent sale of a 1973 I think the car is not worth 20K (in my mind).

However if you are dead set on a 1974 Stage 1, and if you are in love with something then you will pay a premium price for the car. Bottom line you could not find one and restore it for that Price, good luck finding parts. so if you look at things that way even 24K could be a good price.

Time will only tell if the value of these cars will head, I purchased mine on speculation that the price will rise so we will see.

The reason we are looking at the car is we also have a car at that dealer for sale. It's a Chevy and we have been considering trying to see if the owner of the Buick would work a trade. A very long shot and I don't see it happening, but it's worth a try. Our car is a 66 BBC Caprice. The dealer marks up 20% over the owner's cost. They said they left some room for negotiation. Who knows how much?
So, is that a correct 74? I just wanted to know the opinions of the quality.
    Thanks

    John,

Sorry for the opinions on value, I got off track becuase the discussion in this thread regarding the ebay auction was turning towards a fair price for the car. The trade sounds like a new angle to take, that could net you a very nice car.

Here is my opinion on the car, it looks like a correct car that had modifications done to it before making modifications to stock was not kosher. So in order to bring this vehicle back to OEM you have a few things that are not stock, but no big deal. Here is the list of what I see as not correct Intake & exhaust manifolds, wheels?? (not on 1974 order sheet), Air Cleaner cover and decals, trunk lid GS emblem, hood tach and the smog pump looks to be missing.

I would drive it as is, because the modifications should improve the cars performance, for example I know the shift kit is a must for these cars. It looks like who ever did the performance mods had Knowledge of what was needed to speed up a heavy car. FYI these cars are nice, but in stock form they are not super fast muscle cars (like a 1970 Stage 1) The other note I made was, the amount of miles on the car and how recently the engine rebuilt?

Bottom line I love the car, and would love to have it as is (for whatever my opinion is worth). I hope you can work a deal with this guy so you can report back to us how cool this car really is. For a long time every time I did a google on 1974 Gran Sport this car has been right up there in the search results.

Here is the website with pictures of my car if you want to compare, the vehicle you are looking at to a completely stock 1974 GS. FYI My vehicle is has incorrect engine decals and is missing the gransport decals, the restorer thought it was cool to pint this stuff on. :Dou:

Thanks John. I am clueless on the 73 up cars. I did notice all the decals on the breather and hated that. As for the paint under the hood, it's not original, but I have always liked body colored firewalls. Now I don't know about the body color on the innerfenders and rad. cover. I would have to see those first.
I really think these cars will take off one day. Maybe not as high as the 70's, but maybe close.
Back to our regularly sched. posts now. Sorry for getting off track.

The trunk pan is definitely patched! Looks different than mine. Never-the-less I like it! Love the gawdy decals.

TexasT Texas, where are you from

I like it but then I like all GS cars and Buicks in general. One thing I do not see stated in the ad is that it is a numbers matching car. For that kind of coin I'd want the numbers to match. Just my preference. It also looks like the seat inserts have been replaced. Also what's up with the steering wheel cover. This is not original is it?
