    Hey guys,

I am excited to be here. I have acquired a 1975 Buick Skylark SR just this past week. It has been sitting for 20-30 years. It’s in very rough shape, and I am only going to make it tougher.

My plan is to use it in a demolition derby here in Texas next year. The motor isn’t turning just yet and there’s a lot of rust throughout.

No keys with the vehicle either. The windows are currently intact, but I am going to be getting rid of them. If anyone is interested in them make a decent offer and they are yours to come pull yourself. Otherwise my son and I will have an adventurous 10 minutes getting rid of them.

I’ll post a few pictures and continue as I work on it. All the interior is going to be pulled so just about anything you can think of inside that you might want, shoot an offer.

If anyone has any tips/suggestions on any part of what I will be doing please don’t hold back and let’s hear it.

For those wondering, I am roughly 45 minutes NW of Houston.

Do they have "classes" for smaller subframed types of cars like these? Meaning that if they went up against say an Imperial or a '74-'76 GM B car, this X car might not come out of the competition too well.
Have come across several perfect front clips for these X bodied Skylarks, in the past, but did not buy the metal for resale, as the market is too small, too niche, and the logistics went from bad to terrible. Aside from Radiator supports, which also fit Chevy Nova. And those too now, are impossible to move. Crazy world. Good luck with it.

There is a compact class at the one here in town but this would definitely be in the full size class.

    Update from my last post:

I got the steering column pulled apart and got some lights going on the dash so there’s a small win. Can’t get the motor to turn over, but I have been soaking the heads daily.

If I can’t get the motor freed up I found another 350 I can put in it not far from me. Being it’s going to be a derby car, welding whatever brackets needed to make stuff happen isn’t a big deal. Doesn’t have to look good, just has to hold up.

after sleeping on this comment… I don’t really know what “x body” means…. Guess that’s why I am on the “wet behind the ears” thread

Here's a list of the GM body styles for 1971-1975.

By the way: it's S/R instead of SR, this stands for Sport/Rallye [IMG]

Thanks bud! I didn’t know if that had anything to do with the frame. Glancing underneath yesterday it didn’t look like it had a continuous frame running through the car.
