Guys: I've decided to take the plunge and take my Electra's TSP 455 for another car. That leaves essentially a whole/decent/straight 95k Electra, minus some other small bits, for the vultures. Or, may sell whole...

Here are some pics; please let me know what interest is out there. Car is at Jim W's, and he has said he'll help with pulling parts/shipping. Car has a 9 3/8 2.73 posi and a beautiful black leather (not vinyl) interior. 1975 Buick Electra 225 Limited 003.jpg 1975 Buick Electra 225 Limited 006.jpg 1975 Buick Electra 225 Limited 005.jpg 1975 Buick Electra 225 Limited 004.jpg 1975 Buick Electra 225 Limited 001.jpg

There are a bunch of parts I would be interested in Front Bumper, AC stuff, and lots of bits and pieces.
(although it kinda does look to nice to part out!)

Car is from Mpls MN (currently up at Jim's shop, about one hour north of Mpls).

I'm planning on using the entire engine and engine-related, including the radiator, etc. Also the wheels/tires that are on it, although I would let go of them for the right price; the center caps are staying with me though, they are NOS. I have a set of regular steel 15 x 6 w/ narrow whitewalls and hubcaps that could go with/make it a roller/be sold on their own too.

Not a whole heck of a lot wrong with it; pretty solid, paint getting tattered but not frankly rusty; I would say the front clip is all good, front doors and rear quarters pretty good, rear doors w/ rust along inside bottom but not coming apart; bumpers are good but rub strips aren't. Notably, all the soft exterior pieces (Factory rear fender extensions, the plastic pieces between bumpers and body, etc.) are all present and pretty good; these are commonly missing. All exterior trim is present and pretty good, although when the vinyl came off the roof, I didn't put the chrome edges around the opera windows back on; I think they're in the trunk, and they're just fair. Jim tells me somebody has already asked for the driver's side front fender, although if someone wants the front clip complete, I'd do that first. The trunk lid is pretty rusted at the inside of the trailing edge, I don't think people will want it but you never know.

Interior is really nice, 40/60 front seat and back seat beautiful; all door panels excellent except for the usual bad front elbow-rests, driver's worse, and I have the replacement for the driver's side which is also black. I plan on using the belts, the radio and the dome light. Dash pad nice, only minor crack at far left where the dash is opposite the driver's door, at the point. It has a tilt/telescope column with cruise, which I will keep unless someone reallly ($$) wants it.

The interior of the trunk has the carpet option, which I think is relatively scarce and desireable, that would be available.

I also have the original carb which was rebuilt by JW, has quite few miles on it before I decided to put the FAST EZ EFI on. The exhaust manifolds too, as went with shorties. A few other mechanical pieces that slip my mind at the moment but as I said above, planning on using all engine and engine-related.

    Hope this helps.

About 95K as above; posi is fine as far as I know. I know JW tested it out when we did the engine (~10K ago) and it was fine then. I don't take it to the track....

I hope you sell the old girl without parting her out! Very nice looking black Buick. Just out of curiosity, but does it have the four note horn?

    I'm also curious about that.

Does it have a title ?
Is it in your opinion good for a +6000 miles road trip ?

    Hey Gary, Craig and Erik,

Sorry for the slow reply, busier than a one-armed paper hanger these days....

Gary: The complete car will not be for sale, as I'm keeping the engine and related for sure; Jim W built the engine for me with TA SE Stage 1 heads and FAST EZ EFI; there's a lot of money in that engine, as you can imagine. I'm guessing no one would make me whole that way. So, the engine's going into another car. I could potentially put the '71 Buick 350-4 (~55K actual) that's coming out of the other car into the Electra; that would obviously cost a few bucks. Jim W'd be the one doing the work. I'm sure the car's be quite dependable and road-worthy that way, and we could talk about some sort of deal as such.

Craig: Thanks! It does look nice! Sometimes I think all big Buicks should properly be black, at least dark, the lines look better dark. It does not have the four-note horn, but it's nicely equipped otherwise.

Erik: It's generally a nice dependable car, but of course, it would have to be reconfigured as I told Gary above for a continental tour. But I think with another engine and details covered, it'd be a great tourer. The 350 I have in mind is in great shape and has never caused me any trouble, even the carb has never faultered. The interior is extremely comfortable and in great shape, leather is much better than cloth of that era for sliding in and out of the car. Tilt and tele steering column too!

Let me know your thoughts guys. I've had a few offers for a few parts, but haven't started to sell yet; it's obviously better to sell it whole, and once a few parts are gone, I'm committed to that direection.

    Best regards,
    Steve.

    Steve, when I read this:

I thought you meant selling the car as it is, with the engine and transmission still in place.
    Thanks for your reply :TU:

Gosh Erik, I thought I was pretty clear about my keeping the engine, that's the point of this whole thread. But I just re-read my posts, and I suppose I can see the confusion. Sorry for any misunderstanding.

If you want to discuss the whole car, with it's REALLY hot engine, aluminum racing radiator, true duals, etc;, let me know: sbrmd@aol.com. Everything has it's price, it's a pretty entertaining car with all that. You'd like it, and it'd be a splendid tourer that way. But, much more expensive of course.

So...big silence over last 9 days. Nobody interested in the whole car minus engine/related, or whole car with '71 350-4 installed in 455's place?

ok ill be the bad guy here and say it. its a nice car. to nice to part out. you should put the engine whether its a 350 or 455 and sell it. you will not make money on parts from it. Ive got alot sitting in my garage and im happy when I sell something. last time is was a rare park ave speedo with fuel eco gauge. I do not recall who bought it but it was about 6 months ago. As far as another car. I dont have the means to bring it down here to nc and the most I could pay is scrap prices. I do have a running 75 455 engine and trans sitting in my garage taking up space. I pulled it from the car that was running and driving. car was hit so hard a pillar was pushed in and center pillar pulled away from floor. car was rotted anyways. but like I said I have no way of getting it down here. these cars are such a limited market(play on words also as most had limited on side emblem) my 455 needs gaskets and freeze plugs as they popped out one cold night(they were rusted anyways). my advise drop the good 350 in it and sell it whole or even keep it. a great condition running car like that should bring 3-4k. yours is in better shape than my park avenue.

I usually dont do this but Ive got a free 73 455 missing some parts like cam and a few other things like carb . needs to be rebuilt. Ill give to the buyer of your car. just pay to have it transported to your location. Ill even toss in a long shaft turbo 400 if needed. again only for the buyer of this complete car. Ill have to look at the engine and see what all is there. the bottom end went out and car was shut off. then the car sat for many years in a carport.so again only for the buyer of the complete car
