Today's the day!!! Bolted on the trunk lid and hood after extensive power train, suspension and brake work. Firemist blue, white interior and top. It was owned by an elderly gentleman from NY. Body and interior are solid. Original Buick 350 had a mix of oil and coolant. Instead of worrying about a cracked block I rebuilt a 72 Buick GS 350. Plans are to drive it to the Ocean City MD Spring Cruise. Just have to get the cruise control working. The solenoid clicks but there's no engagement. Transducer needs attention.
I like white interior, it's very classy. I thought I had a vacuum problem with my cruise control on the electra, but it turned out to just be disconnected.
Thanks guys. And they were going to crush it for scrap!!!!! The body is all original except for the trunk lid which I replaced due to a large dent. Usually the cars from Albany NY area are rusted pretty bad. This one somehow survived. My guess is the old boy didn't drive it in the winter? Went down to Penn DOT today and got the registration plate. I have an appointment on Wed. for exhaust installation and state inspection. I'm using a low back pressure Cat Convertor 2.5" in & out with a stock muffler 2.5" in and 2.25" out with a 2.25" tailpipe. It's legal and it'll breath.
Bergy: Why don't you bring your Riv to the ROA International Meet in Galena, IL? The dates are June 23-26. Lots of Rivs to look at and lots of Riv Lovers to admire your sweet ride. Congrats on your finished project. Looks great!
Looks really good, cant even remember the last time I saw one this nice on the street. Keep us updated
Wow!, You got this from Albany? I live outside of albany and don't remember this car being advertised. Nice job and good luck.
Yup, about 30 miles south of Albany. It was on evilBay mid August last year. The picture I posted was after it's first washing. I did the Maguire' 3 step system (cleaner/polish/wax) this weekend. All I can say is WOW! I've got the ATC programmer out of it now waiting on a 9 port rotary vacuum valve. I replaced the blower switch under the valve as cheap insurance. I couldn't believe ACDelco still had the switch as an active part.
The switch was probably used in many other cars. Just out of curiosity, what is the model of the ATC brain? The one they used in 1976 GM auto climate cars was called the mark II. I'm wondering if they updated with the downsized cars. I have a leak in the small vacuum motor in which the temperature changes with acceleration.
Hi Mike, The parts micro-fiche says that 76 to 81 are the same. Do you need a part number for the vacuum motor? Is it the one that controls the blower switch, 9 port vacuum valve and the air door lever that comes out the top of the programmer? Did you manually check the vacuum motor? I used a piece of vacuum tubing and mouth suction.
Very Nice, I Like That Color. Are you running factory Exhaust Manifolds? I Think Mine might be warped and as expensive as manifolds are I was wondering if you knew or researched at all on Headers for the Buick 350 for a 77-78 Riviera? I have only had mine for several weeks now and Love it! Cant wait till it is running and looking as well as yours. I appreciate any Advice. No Emission Worries where I Live!!
No headers. Stock single pipe exhaust system. I used the larger pipes from the 403 but kept the stock manifolds and Y pipe.
