I looked at a 1980 Trans Am Indy 500 turbo pace car today. Running original car in need of complete resto. The car is solid with original paint and interior, Clock shows 67,000 miles has not been Pa inspected since 2002. I can buy it for $2500.. I have a 69 corvette coupe, a 1976 Buick Indy pace car replica, a 1987 Iroc Camaro that is yellow and a 1967 Skylark convertible in pieces. What am I to do? Storage is no problem. I can't get permission from my wife but can get forgiveness.

Further research on this one. The VIN tag was off of the car and "replacement" tag was loose and in the console. It was from West Virginia and made in 1987. The Vin #s stated it to be a Pace Car. The cowl tag showed the car to be a Special edition and black in color. The original color of the car was burgandy. evidence to that was everywhere including around the plugs used when the car was origianlly rustproofed. A strange bird indeed still in the fella's driveway not to be going home with me as I am "ascared" of this one

Best models to buy are 70-78. The 79-81 versions with the Olds 403 and the Pontiac 301 are not worth much or as much as the 70-78 versions with Pontiac engines.
