I have a th400 that seems to be stuck in 3rd gear. The take off is sluggish but goes right down the road without a single shift. The kicker is that if i manually drop it into 1st it locks like i just put it in park. If i roll forward in the driveway and put it in first the wheels lock up. From a standstill put it in 1st and give it some gas it doesnt move but does bog down the motor like the brakes are on. In reverse its like a brand new tranny and has full grabbing power like it should. I should mention that the tranny came from a running vehicle. The kid drove this thing all over town as a daily driver. I bought it, took the motor and tranny and installed it in my project over a year ago. I did change the filter and fluid when i first got it all looked normal then. Since then it has never been taken out of the driveway and has only moved to turn it around to work on the other side. I have only had a little experience with auto trans rebuild. I understand the basics but thats about all. any ideas??? thanks.
