    Golden Oldie,

Thanks for your 2 cents. Fine looking Lark by the way.

I also have an '87 GN tranny located. With 100k+ miles, it will need to frehened up. What level kit would you reccommend? My Willys will have a curb weight of 33-3500# when finished. It's primary purpose will be a fun cruiser with some long distance trips thrown in. Knowing both me & my wife, it will also see an "occasional" romp. Nothing like a gray haired geezer having a little fun with a punk kid. Makes my day! Who would ever guess that a stock looking Willys is packing a stump pulling 455???

The '64 is NOT switch pitch, unfortunately. It is the first year of the 400 trans. SP trannys ran from '65-'67 (65-66 is nailhead bolt patten, '67 is BOP pattern on the sp400)

All '64's came with the 425, same with '66.. In '63 and '65 401's were standard and 425's optional in '65.

    Thom,
Sorry to be so slow to get back to you. I have a friend that I bought the tranny from, he built it. It has a few hardened parts, shift kit, billet modulator of some kind. I just do what he tells me on trans issues so I don't have to know too much (good thing  ) I use a restalled to 2800 D5 and the car weighs 3900. I run 3:73 gears and Nitto 275/60 drag radials. I was told that if I do any upgrades on the car over what I have now that I will have to have the trans rebuilt with some nice new expensive parts. I think the procharger might qualify for an upgrade :spank: We will see.

I have a chopped/shortened T sedan project that stalled a few years ago. Too many projects!

I can't seem to find my instructions for that Transgo kit I put in my tranny but I wouldn't recommend going with any level stronger than street/strip. If memory serves me I put the HD street version in mine.

I think you have a cool project going. Those "one off" vehicles are a lot of fun to build and drive. Back in the early 80's I put a small block 400 Chevy and a turbo 350 in a `78 Jeep CJ5. It was a everyday driver and had complete working 4wd, 4.10 gears and 32" tires. The main hobby besides transportation was sand drags and off-road but I took it to the strip one day and ran a 13.07@102mph. I even beat a friends `69 427 Corvette, which he wasn't very happy about :TU:
