Help!!!!! I just purchased a 2004R for my 71 skylark. I have the gs hood and breather on my quadrajet, and want to keep original appearance. I thought about putting a chevy base plate on my Q-Jet, but I still would do not have enough clearance between the Qjet and intake on my 350 SBB to connect the TV cable. I could add a carb spacer, but that would affect hood to breather clearance and make the breather support bracket not work. The TH350 kick down cable attaches to accelerator pedal. I was wondering if there is a way to attach the new TV cable there as well. THANX

From memory awhile back... I got a late model bracket from a junk yard, the kind that has the square hole for the tv cable. Mounted it on rear carb stud and drilled out a hole in the qjet throttle cable plate (don't know what it's official name is) on a plane with the bracket. Lot's of adjustment later worked good. Go light on the tranny till you get the cable adjusted correctly or you will fry your new tranny in few miles.

Now maybe you can help me. I'm going to install a th350 in my 68 Lark. I have a gas pedal out of a 69 that has a connection on it for the kickdown. I've never seen an installation so I don't know what I'm looking for. Is your kickdown strictly a cable connected to the tranny or is there an electrical s/w in there somewhere?

Thanks. No electrical s/w on the gas pedal connection for the th350, only for the th400. I cannot connect my tv cable to the carb because the cable must connect below the shaft. The cable must be "pulled" when you hit the throttle. My buick Qjet does not have a place to connect. That is why I was considering using a chevy baseplate on the Qjet. But if I do that i'm back to clearance problems with the intake manifold, breather, hood etc.

I went to the website and found lots of good info. Thanks. But none of the Qjets they have kits for are like the one on a 71 SBB. Anybody have any ideas?

If you can find a qjet used with a 200r4 you can use the shaft and hardware in your qjet.

    2. get a holly bracket and weld it to the end of your throttle shaft then have bowtieoverdrives set up a system for it.

    3. get a qjet with chevy plate and make the shaft plate transplant then go with bowtie overdrives kit for chevy q jets.

On my car I used a cable housing repair kit that fits 2004R/700R4 cables that has you cut the bottom of your original cable housing off and then you glue the repair part on to the bottom of your cable. The stock TH350 cable was made of steel and was too small for this kit to work. I purchased a repo TH350 cable that was all plastic and was the right size on the bottom and converted it with this kit. The converted cable hooks up to the trans and the gas pedal the same as the stock TH350 cable did.
