200R4 to Q-Jet adapter

Someone mentioned that there was an adapter for a Q-jet to allow a 200R4 hookup. I know they make them for Holly and Edelbrok, but I haven't seen one for a Q-jet. This is actual carb hookup, not the cable mounts.

Anyone know where I can get one for for my Q?

Do I need to replace the entire carb shaft with the proper hookup?

    Thanks for any info..

I took the Q-jet off a Monte Carlo, and used the front shaft in my Buick Q-jet. It worked just fine. Be sure to file the screws where they come through the shaft or they will twist off.

I sent my Qjets to Bowtie in California to be modified to work with their TV Made EZ last year. This year I'm using a TCI bracket modified for the throttle cable (wouldn't work as is) in combo with a NAPA universal TV cable and the Bowtie Qjet mod. It's weird science on the Buicks, they don't figure in different intakes and in general engineer for Chevy carbs.

The BT bracket required a 1" spacer to clear the B4B intake so limited my air filter height and created quite a sandwich of spacer, gaskets, bracket, gaskets...

The TCI bracket is better in that regard; just had to washer under the bracket on top of the carb to clear the stock throttle cable mount; no spacer required. But then the cable from Bowtie wouldn't extend far enough for WOT since the TCI unit sits 1" further back than the BT bracket. Hence, the universal cable from NAPA. I really like the NAPA cable because it's adjustable for outer sheath length, actually has one inside the other, and adjustable for the actual inner cable length. I ended up measuring the length of the BT custom cable and adding an inch to the inner cable to meet the spec of the BT cable to compensate for the 1" difference in bracket position.

My pressure and road test came out just fine, just yesterday. I can post a picture if needed. If you can weld the carb mod can probably be done at home or mod up something similar with good results.

Since I'm in the mode.. pics of my winter project. Clean up after 4 years of driving. Started with body bushings, ended with clip and engine refurbish (cleanup, paint, rear main, gaskets, wiring cleanup), inner fender and firewall paint... ain't perfect but gonna be driven anyway.

    Hi guys,

Tried these guys, http://www.transmissioncenter.net/200-4R.htm, they told me to make one.

TCI part # 376700 appears to be the bracket that hold the cables behind the carb, not the TV cable to the carb.

    Joe,

What year Monte did you use?

    Gary Fanning,

Looks like you welded the carb/tv lever to the carb? This is the piece I'm looking for as the 71 carbs do not have the lower hookup.

Looks like it's back to the drawing board..

    Thanks anyway,
    Keith

Bowtie OD did the welding modification.
