In all, 128 drivers braved the weather forecast and met up for the greatest Muscle Car show on the planet.......

I'll ask everyone who attended to chime in but I will let you know the small block record went lower, and the final round saw a holeshot win with a .000 light

as for me, I did OK (car 46)

I've been down and out with a cold/hacking cough this weekend, so I didn't make it over. I was checking out the Facebook page, and what's the deal with the Corvair?!? What did that thing run? As a Corvair owner, I'm bummed I didn't get to check that one out, and I was also looking forward to seeing Tom Miller's Special, and that cool '68 CJ coupe. Man I'm bummed.

Fun event.....I will be back next year to support Ryan with his maiden voyage at PSMCDR'S :)

Did anyone get to see the young lady on Friday attempt to tree the tree with the 4 Speed Pontiac, Priceless :Dou:

After missing last year, it was good to make it back. Car had not seen the track since last November, but timing had not changed since Norwalk last August.. Ended up running a 13.45. Also ended up running Paul V. in his '67 Impala. He took the shoot out, but I am still a happy man. Always good to see the family!!

Good to see everyone again this year. Despite the rain Saturday morning, it turned out to be a beautiful weekend for racing. Good to see Frank back in action after last year's crash and his car looked great!. Thanks to Dick, Bill and Steve for coming to "rescue" a fellow Ford after I threw a fan belt on my first run on Friday and couldn't make it back to the pits! The people are what makes this event so great. Another well run event by the PSMCDR staff!

Thanks Dan, Dennis, Lyndon and the rest of the people who help make this event such a great time. Always good to see everyone. I had a great time flogging the "rent-a-racer", violent axle hop et al :eek2::Dou: There were a few runs with a smooth launch however. But it was so much fun running a different car (I think it helped we did zero tuning. it runs what it runs). And from what I understand, I was the only "late" model entry. Qualified the 79 T/A 400 4sp car with a 14.97 @ 94 (this is the only time the car has ever been on a track) and was able to beat Steve Courter running his wife's 70 El Camino 396 4sp car in the shootout. It was fate that I even ran the car since the GT-37 was hit 6 weeks ago and Tim had issues finding time to get the green car running. So we went with the backup plan.

I'll keep everyone updated on the GT-37 progress. The car will be back. And looking forward to seeing those who attend MCACN.

Lastly, big thanks to Kurt Karch for letting me flog his car. :TU:

I had a great time seeing everybody. I almost turned back home as it rained damned near the entire way to the track. But I didn't, I figured keep going and you'll at least get to visit everyone regardless. I'm glad I did! Turned out to be a beautiful day!! I had an absolutely great time. The 79 T/A was just cool to see run. Loved it. Can't wait until next year!

It was great to be back. I look forward to this event all year long. Nowhere else on the planet will you meet a better group of people.

:TU: What Frank said above as to a great group of people...and another great year.

Thanks to all from Team Studebaker, where we fielded ten cars. Ten out of 128 cars is 7.8%...boy, I wish Studebaker could have achieved that market penetration back in the day!

The rain overnight Friday was daunting...especially as it continued into Saturday morning. One of our team members, Ed George, thought they had moved Lake Michigan to The Mid-Michigan Motorplex pits and rode his depth gauge across the pond to demonstrate:

What happened to the cool 1958 Dodge Custom Royal D500? It ran practice Friday but I don't remember seeing it in the shootouts:

Frank and Karen Remlinger were there without his 1969 Dart GTS 340, unfortunately. He's the Good Guy in the White Hat, to the right of Studebaker's Richard Poe from Nashville IN. Richard's wife Rose has the turquoise stripes on her jacket, while Studebaker club members from Swayzee IN (yes, there is one) Dave and Connie O'Neal relax to the left. Dave and Connie just celebrated their umpteeth wedding anniversary...Connie said they'd been dating since she was 13 years old! It's heart-warming to see relationships last that long, especially because she waited while Dave served in Viet Nam. He's a great guy with some brutal stories to tell...hence the POW/MIA cap.

Getting caught up in the timing tower before racing were, from the left, Tom Shaw, Diego Rosenberg, and Chris Jones:

It was good to meet Diego's wife Tatiana. Now you know what's going on if he seems distracted while announcing from time to time:

I took a lot of shootout photos from the last grandstand, at a position just past the 1/8-mile post; the cone barely visible on the extreme right side of this photo. Under the heading of "it ain't over 'till it's over" is this tight Shootout Run #2 involving Ted Harbit and The Stude Tomato, where the benefits of supercharging a 289 Studebaker engine (now 299 CID with the legal .060 overbore) would be seen in the latter half of the race:

I think this is Gary Place's 1972 Malibu he bought new:

'Don't know if this is Kurt Karch's '69 Hurst Olds or someone else's. Feel free to clarify. (The small orange box between the cars is the start box for the speed timer to record the 1/8-mile speed, not ET. You can see the square hole cut in the guard rail for the 1/8-mile timer's beam to shoot across the track, which records the ET and terminal speed for the eighth-mile):

Small world: In chatting with Kurt Karch, I found out he is from near Evansville IN in the SW corner of the state. He is a Sales Rep for Beck's Hybrid Seeds. Although I live in central Indiana, Kurt and I discovered we have a mutual friend in my church in Carmel IN, Bill Frietag, who works on Beck Seed test farms out of Beck's home office / HQ north of Indianapolis in Atlanta IN. Kurt and Bill know each other. Small world indeed! Kurt gave me a new Beck's Seed hat that is not distributed in central Indiana. I wore it to church Sunday morning the day after the Pure Stocks and Bill Frietag spotted it. He said, "Hey; 'nice hat; where'd you get it?"

Again, another great year. Thanks to Dan, Dennis, and Lyndon for all their hard work...and to Mary Jo and Mike Ledford for maintaining such a nice facility. :TU:BP

We were long time corvair owners and the 69 was a time capsule. the smogger 69 motor was removed, the 140 in it sounds good.
yep I am a corvair geek. LOL
