Hi folks, me again. As suggested, I will be assisting Patrick and Starc. My job will be "herding cats." Keeping track of qualifying, "dial-ins," and, most importantly, getting you all correctly laddered for eliminations. (When Jim started this class he did it all by himself... And raced... Now it takes three people!!! Go figger!!!) Many of you know me, but if not, should you see a tall, skinny red-headed-guy who doesn't look a day over 60 limping around, trying to get y'all in order, your cooperation will be much appreciated! Hopefully, we'll all have enough "meet and greet" before that... (I've been having dreams about BG, although I'm racing a car in them... LOL!)
Im in that group as well. Still have the envelope with prize money and a gift sert in my tool box from last yr.
Good morning BSA folks! It’s Saturday-Race Day. Gates open at 7:00; first rounds are running at 9:00. Don’t forget to buy today’s tech card! Nick is working on the ladder. Like last year, we’re running pairs, slowest to quickest. The ladder should be posted near my ‘68 convertible in the pits. When our class is called, we’ll line up in that order. Patrick
Great job to Patrick and Starc (and everyone behind the scenes) on running this class. Always a great time, no matter if you go out in the first round(like me this year) or making it to the finals and winning it. Thanks to all the sponsors for the prizes. Thanks to Starc for doing the shirts. Thanks to Rob for the loaner helmet(hopefully I won't forget mine ever again) Everybody have a safe trip home and I hope to see all of you again next year.
Keith Egan won the race; Randy Hollister was R/U. The Greg Gessler ‘Spirit of the Class’ award, this year chosen by Denny Manner, went to Ted Nagel’s ‘65 Super Wildcat four speed. I’ll write a full recap soon. I’m tired right now! Patrick
...For anyone who didn't see it, the semifinals were a "race for the ages." All four cars broke out, in two nailbiters to beat all nailbiters... I was standing under “Tower Bridge,” and I can attest that every non-BSA person watching was riveted, and muttered words of, perhaps respect, such as just “THAT”S racing!”
BSA results for 2024! Keith Egan won the class again. This is win number FIVE for him, maybe we need jackets (like SNL)? He took home a $400 gift certificate from CARS, $150 GC from TA Performance, $240 in cash, and the prizefighter belt! Randy Hollister was Runner Up; he takes home (to his tent under a bridge near you) $250 GC from CARS, $75 GC from TA, and $200 in cash. Third and Fourth were Bryan Woodworth and Phil Roitman, each getting $150 GCs from CARS and $100 cash. Gary Laughlin ranked fifth, taking home a $75 CARS certificate and $60 cash. Racers outside the top five ALL took home a $50 CARS GC and $60 cash. Special mention to class founder and RRA Emeritas, Jim Rodgers, who showed his show worthy Titian Red ‘70 GS Stage 1 is capable of 10s easily and hopefully will be back next year. Thanks to all y’all!!! Patrick
Patrick, Great recap but you forgot one thing, those of us that were a runner up in the first round, got a special award from John Csordas Jr. I will cherish this and display it prominently. Also, my streak continues, I've lost in the first round of BSA every time I've ran in the class, dating back to the late 90s. This year when I saw that I was racing Keith Egan in the first round, I knew I was in trouble. The margin at the finish line was .0165 in his favor. Fun stuff because there really are no losers in this class. I'll be back for another 1st round runner-up in 2024.
Thank You Patrick and Starc for organizing the class and Mr Nic for keeping track of the race details from qualifying and each round. Thank You to my fellow racers for coming to the Nats and participating in BSA!! Without all of you this class would not be around.
