Well, I'm brand new to this site, so bear with me.

I just bought a sandrail with the Alum. 215 V8 Buick. I did some research using this website regarding this motor so I'm somewhat familiar, but thats about it.

As far as I know, the long block is stock. It has a Holley throttle body fuel injection system with Nitrous. The guy said (you know what that means) that it has approx. 185 horsepower, and a 100 horsepower boost when the nitrous kicks in. Does that seem about right?

What is the easiest and cheapest way to add horsepower to this motor without adding a lot of weight? (ie sand)

Do you recommend a turbo? (where is the best place/webiste to check them out?) What do they cost?

Do you recommend a supercharger? (where is the best place/webiste to check them out?) What do they cost?

Is putting a 300 crank into it worth the time and money? How much horsepower do I gain?

    Any help/insight is greatly appreicated.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Using a 300 crank gets you 266 cid in a +.030" 215 block. A good upgrade, and it's been done a lot.
Check out www.aluminumv8.com. All the info you need is there. Plus, Dan is a pretty nice guy.
If you use a 300 crank, go for 1964 Buick 300 aluminum heads as well. They have larger combustion chambers (54cc stock) than the buick version 215 heads (37cc) so you can keep you compression reasonable, and they flow better. Sets sell on ebay all the time. Usually they go for about 200-300 bucks depending on condition. When choosing these heads, look for any corrosion around the water passages. Skip any that are corroded or jagged around the edges of those passages. They aren't really that rare, just wait for the next set.
    Good Luck,
    Rick(wrench)
