Anyone still making this size in a RWL summer tire. I checked on-line today with Goodyear, Michelin, Bridgestone, General, BF Goodrich, General & maybe a couple others. No one seems to be making them anymore. Is this a good reason to buy some new 15" rally wheels?
Hey Steve; Im not sure about the 70 aspect ratio, but i know they still make a 235/60R14. They are decent, my freind had them on his 69 cutlass for a long time. Dayton is the brand (branch of Firestone i think). Very cheap, VERY VERY sticky tire (soft).
time for 15" rims. I'm starting to think this will be the easiest route. I have a few surplus 14" wheels not including those on the car now. Likely send them away over the Winter & have the centers put into 15" rims. I'll also keep an eye open for a set of 5 very good used 15" wheels.
Steve Stock 14" tires were G 70-14 and it converts to 225 70R-14 which is availble by BF Goodrich Radial TA.
fyi - on my 72 gs, the original rallyes were 14" & i installed bfg t/a 225R70x14 tires. four years ago, i replaced the tries & rims with 15" rallyes and bfg t/a 245R60x15 tires. what a difference in handling with the 245 tires. like night and day!
I'm leaning towards new 15 X 7" rims, stock Rally style. G78-14 had a height of 27.1". 255-60R15 is at 27.0". Can I get a 255 on a 7" rim?
Gerry, You just clinched the deal. Set of 5 new 15 X 7 wearing 255-60R15 TA's. Now, gotta pay for all this stuff.:idea2:
